The 29-year-old righthander
was optioned to Vancouver of
the Pacific Coast Leiu on 24
hour recall after failing to win
w'th the Orioles following his ac
quisition from the Cleveland In
dians last month.
An 11-year veteran of the ma
jors, Houtteman gave his consent
to being Jnt to the minors. He
had pitched a total of only eight
and a third innings this season
with both the Indians and Ori
oles. Since coming to Baltimore,
he appeared in three games with
out being involved in a decision.
