I oday is Father's Day all right, but do you honestly deserve
special attention? Answer these questions posed by the National
Father's Day Committee to see how you fare as a father.
True False
1. Your child must get all the advantages you lacked.
2. All differences of opinion between you and your
wife should be concealed from the children.
3. You should be the main disciplinarian in the family.
4. It's unnatural for a father to feel attached to his
daughter.
5. As a father, it's up to you to teach your son "man-
liness." lest he become a sissy.
G. If you don't actively rule your offspring, they'll
surely rule you.

9. Good fathers and mothers shouldn't show too much
affection to one another before their children.
10. It's unfatherly and undignified to play kids' games
with your youngsters.
The correct answer to all these questions is "false."
1. Don't sacrifice to give your children material things you can't
alTord because proper development and contentment depend far more
on things like affection and respect which cost nothing.
2. A constant "front" of seeming agreement between parents is too
threatening to the young child, who requires some outlet for his
natural rebelliousness.

his grip occasionally, even when his children are "naughty." In a
healthy family, the mother also provides some of the discipline.

is effectively transmitted through tenderness, not toughness.
( The domineering father only succeeds in developing hidden
rebellion in his offspring. Your child should neither rule nor be ruled,

T. Each child must be regarded as a unique individual. Your feel
ings toward a son will be different than toward a daughter, but
closeness is important in both cases.
S. A "real father" is just the sort who won't feel inferior or em
barrassed about helping with household chores.
9. Spontaneous displays of affection ivf real meaning to familv
