o'clock evening wedding of Miss
Barb.ira Helen Hendrickson and
David Warren Kelsoe. The bride
is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Vern Hendrickson, Route
1, Box 461, Medford. The bride
frtcm is a ton of Mr. and Mrs.
Warren M. Kelsoe, Route 3, Box
172, Medford.
The Rev. Ernest R. Volkman
officiated at the double ring
ceremony attended by 100 rela
tives and friends.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a lace
gown fashioned with tiered lace
and net skirt. The bodice was
lined with satin and styled with
heart neckline. Her fingertip
length veil was held by a Juliet
cap and she carried a white
orchid encircled by white car
nations. Miss Alice Rae Hendrickson
was honor attendant for her sis
ter. She wore a blue lace street
length frock styled on princess
lines with matching hat, shoes,
and gloves. She carried white
Iris tied with blue ribbons. Miss
Louise Hendrickson, aunt of the
bride, and Miss Donna Glass
cock were bridesmaids. They
wore street length frocks of pink
dacron trimmed with pink chif
fon with matching white lace
hats, shoes, and gloves. They
carried white iris tied with pink
ribbons.

bons. Robert Joseph Webster served
a best man while Fred Oldham
and Roger Kelsoe, brother of
the bridegroom, seated the

nelius Hendrickson and Wayne
Kelsoe, another brother of the
bridegroom.
White, pink and blue gladiolus
decorated the church with white
wedding bells and candles at the
pew ends. Miss Jane Daniels
was soloist.
Following the ceremony a re
ception was held at the church.
Pink columbine decorated the
table that held the tiered wed
ding cake.
For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Hendrickson chose a white
lace dress over pink taffeta with
matching wnite lace hat and ac
cessories. She wore a corsage of
pink and white carnations. Mrs.
Kelsoe wore a blue print sheath
with navy blue duster and white
accessories. Her corsage was of
white carnations.
Grandparents of the newly
weds who attended the wedding
were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kin
kle of Phoenix, the bride's
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Kelsoe of Medford, and John
Schow of Roseburg, grandpar
ents of the bridegroom.
Out-of-town guests who attend
ed the ceremony included Mrs.
Grace Gray, Mrs. Henry Smith
and daughter, all of Chiloquin,
Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Kin
kle. Willows. Calif.; Mr. and

na Stimson, a daughter of Mrs
Lloyd I. Stimson, 106 Walker
avenue, Ashland, and the late
Mr. Stimson, became the bride of
Herbert Ray Chapman, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Chapman,
1041 West Eleventh street, Med
ford, in a ceremony held Sun
day, June 9. at the Trinity Epis
copal Churth in Ashland.
The Rev. John Thompson of
ficiated at the double ring serv
ice held at 2:30 o'clock in the
afternoon.
For her wedding the bride
wore a white ballerina length
frock styled on princess lines.
Her shoulder length veil was
held by a crown of seed pearls
and she carried an orchid on a
white Bible. Her cameo necklace
was a family heirloom belonging
to an aunt of the bridegroom and
she carried a handkerchief that
had belonged to her great-great-grandmother.
She was given in
marriase bv J. L. Jones, her
brother-in-law.
Mrs. Jones was honor attend
ant for her sister. She wore a
ballerina length apricot colored
frock and carried a nosegay bou
quet of gladiolus tied with tur
quoise ribbon. Miss Lois May
and Miss Marlys Elhart of Med
wore frocks similar to Mrs.
Jones' in turquoise blue and car
ried nosegay bouquets of gladi
olus tied with apricot colored
ribbon. Little Linda Roberts of
El Monte, Calif., niece of the
bridegroom, was flower girl.
Richard Chapman, brother of
the bridegroom, served as best
man and Robert Schulz and Jim
Mrclnnis, both of Medford, were
ushers.
Baskets of peach colored gladi
olus flanked the altar and white
stock and candles decorated the
altar. Mrs. L. Windsor was solo
ist. Following the ceremony a re
ception was held in the Parish
house of the church.
The newlywed couple will
make their home at 106 Walker
avenue, Ashland, after they re
turn June 23 from a wedding trip
in southern California. For her
traveling attire the bride chose
a coral sheath dress with match
ing duster and white accessories.
The bride is a graduate of Ash
land High school and is a student
at Southern Oregon college and
is employed by Daugherty Lum
ber company. White City.

China To Be
UN Topic
Mr. and Mrs. Allyn Rickett,
who spent several years in China
and who witnessed the revolu
tion and its effects, will speak
in Medford Wednesday, June 19.
They will be guests of Medford
chapter, Oregon United Nations
association, for a meeting set for
8 p.m. in St. Mark's Parish
house.
The Ricketts are also sched
uled to speak for the Grants
Pass UN chapter and for the
Portland City club.
The Ricketts perhaps know
more about the present regime
in China than any other Amer
ican couple, it is said, and have
written a book which the Amer
ican press has called "astound
ing." The two young people,
graduates of the University of
Pennsylvania, went to China on
Fullbright fellowships and both
studied and taught at Peking
university. They saw the Chiang
Kai-shek regime fall during the
revolution, witnessed the tre
mendous upheavel, were arrest
ed by the People's government
and both spent considerable time
in jail.
It is said that their recount
ing of their experiences gives an
interesting insight on the man
ner in which the new govern
ment treats political prisoners
and their group method of ed
ucating prisoners to new social
beliefs.
The public is invited to attend
the meeting.

Convention Op
The annual state convention
of Oregon Lions and auxiliary
will open in Medford Thursday,
June 20, with registration in the
Pioneer room of the Jackson
hotel.
State officers of the auxiliary
will be present for the conven
tion which will meet through
Saturday. Mrs. Lee Mellish and
Mrs. Kenneth Campbell, mem
bers of the Medford Lions aux
Father of Year
Named by Group
Jackson County Cow Belles
have announced selection of
James P. Rowan, Medford, as
their "Father of the Year." Mrs.
Clayton Charley, president of
the organization, states that Mr.
Rowan was chosen by the organ
ization from a list of men nomin
ated by several youth groups of
the county. Mr. Rowan was
nominated by the Camp Fire
Girls.
Mr. Rowan, father of two
boys and two girls, is a dean of
First Presbyterian church and
teaches Sunday school, he is Cub
Scout leader, on the camp com
mittee and board of Medford
YMCA and a member of Rogue
council, Camp Fire Girls.
Honorable mention went to
A. T. Lathrop of Central Point,
Mrs. Charley announces.
The Cow Belles presented Mr.
Rowan a roast beef for his Fa
ther's day dinner. The Rowans
live at 828 Minnesota avenue.
Mr. Charley states that the or
ganization will also present a
beef roast to the father of the
first child born in Jackson coun
ty today. Fathers' day.

cafeteria with the Crater aux
iliary in charge. "Heavenly
hats and headwear for dele
gates" will be the theme of the
noon luncheon given by the
Medford auxiliary and during
the evening the governor's ban
quet at Hedrick Junior High
school will honor Mr. and Mrs.
John Stickley of Charlotte, N.C.
Mr. Stickley is international
president of the Lions and the
banquet will be a joint meet
ing of the Lions and auxiliary
conventions.
Talent auxiliary, will be In
charge of the coffee hour Sat
urday morning. The Lions and
the auxiliary will view a variety
show that evening and attend
a dance at Hedrick Junior High
school later in the evening.
Business meetings will be
held at various times during
the convention.

Honored by Board
Miss Sharley Cox, who has
been awarded the first scholar
ship offered by the Medford
Realty board, was honored at a
luncheon meeting of the board
Friday. William Frohnmayer.
president of the board, presented
Miss Cox the S250 scholarship.
The scholarship is for S250 and
Miss Cox, member of the 1957
graduating class of Medford High
school, will use it to study com
merce at Southern Oregon col
lege, Ashland. She has also been
awarded a partial tuition schol
arship by the college.
Miss Cox is a three-year mem
ber of Torch Honor society and
was active in Girls' league at
high school.
Mr. Frohnmayer states that
the scholarship will be awarded
annually.
