She had nobody else to turn to,
and she could have been an ugly
brunette for all I cared. She
turned to me because I've been
almost like a father to rer. It's
really a loan, but I don't care if
I never see the money agaiii.
Why shouldn't one human being
help another in a time of crisis?
As for my family, unfortunate
ly they've gotten the idea that
I'm richer than I really am. It s
true that some of them should
be a little more considerate and
go elsewhere for a loan, but I'm
the oldest in the family and
they're used to think of me as
sort of head of the family and
i can't find it in me to turn away
a n.ember of my own family. My
wife calls me a sucker for that!
The Council: Henry does bear
the mark of being an easy mark
that is, he is easily flattered.
Anybody who sees him as Big
Daddy has a good chance of get
ting past first base.
Henry doesn't explain how his
family has gotten the idea that
he is richer than he is and he
doesn't state why he hasn't man
aged to disillusion them. The in
dications are that it would be
an awfully big blow to his ego
if a members of his family went
"elsewhere" for a loan.
As for his woman employee,
the same holds true. Certainly,
human beings should help one
another, but why all this 'almost
like a father" business. These
handouts stick too close to one
pattern to stem from goodness
of heart, pure and simple.
Nagging won't help in a bad
case of Santa-Claus-itis, such as
Henry has. The best thing Zelda
can do is let her husband know
the cost of living has gone way.

new fur coat? If she doesn't

may be able to pick up some
bargain-priced furs from the
government.
At its semi-annual auction of
government-owned furs in St
Louis in April, the Fish and
Wildlife Service sold about 28,
000 skins to American, Canadian
and European bidders. The furs
brought the government more
than $2,500,000.
One cheering note for the man
with the fur-minded wife: the
price is coming down and may
be even lower at the next sale
in October. The average price
last April was S91.56 per skin,
a drop of S9-40 from October, ,
1956. I
Most of the pelts sold last
time were seal skins from the i
Alaskan Pribilof Islands in the ;
Bering Sea. The Fish and Wild- i
life Service administers the seal
ing industry there. j
For the first time since 1939 j
a new shade ol seal skin was
offered kitovi. This is describ
ed as "an exciting new shade of
midnight gray with highlights j
of silver and an intriguing blue j
cast."
As the bargain-conscious hus- j

Kitovi skins were the most ex-1
