ceded her in death in 1929. She
was a member of the Presbyter
ian church. Linneus. Mo., and
Reames Chapter 66, OES, Med
ford. Others urvivors include anoth
er daughter. Mrs. Ray Sloneker,
Medford; son, Ivan R. Acker.
Temple City, Calif.; brother,
Carl DeGarmo. Wisconsin: and a
nephew. E. H. DeGarmo. Central
Point; three grandchildren and

Epidemology of virus diseases
was discussed by Dr. Carl Ek
lund, Hamilton. Mont., this
morning at the four-day institute
on the principles of epidemi
ology. Over 71 persons interested in
public health, including all staff
members of the Jackson county
health department, are attend
ing. Dr. Eklund. who is medical
director of the U.S. Rocky
Mountain laboratory, explained
virus properties believed to be
of importance in epidemiologic
studies. He included a discussion
of poliomyelitis and infectious
hepatitis problems.
A number of public health au
thorities are taking part in the
Southern Oregon institute, and
will also work with similar con
ferences in Portland. Multno
mah county and Eugene.
Snake Farm Opens
At Cave Junction
Cave Junction A snake farm,
formerly known as the Gold
Hill Cobra farm, has been
brought to Rough and Ready
flats by Mr. and Mrs. Richard L.
Cummings, who also run the
"Whale," a museum near Red
Bluff.
Mr. and Mrs. Cummings have
rented the Elwood Hussey build
ing near the airport and are now
showing their poisonous and
non-poisonous snakes, including
the deadly cobra, the cotton
mouth water moccasin and the
Florida timber rattler.
Managing the business is Wil- j
liam Robinson, who was asso-1
riatrd with the Cummings at
Gold Hill. The owners will re- j
turn Friday from a California j
trip.
Future plans include a curio
shop, a small zoo and a soft
drink counter. The building was
previously the 49 er Cafe.

Prices Move Widely

est level in seven weeks.
Prices, however, moved wide
ly in many instances and some
issues registered gains ranging
to four points.
The market retreated early
in
the lows with some of the rail-
road shares showing a firmer
trend, an encouraging factor for
the bullish element.

nearly two points to help lift
the rail average a mite. Minor

Approval Requested
Application for county court
approval of a request for a pack
age liquor license at Yoakley's
Little Super market, Four Cor
ners, was made yesterday by
Thomas D. Shepard, Medford.
Mrs. Earl Yoakley, wife of the
present owner of the market,
said sale of the store had been
discussed with Shepard.
Yoakley now has a package
liquor license granted by the
state, the court said. Shepard's
ownership would require a new
license, as well as county court
approval.
