In Franklin, Pa., a deer pursued by a
pack of dogs ran out on a state highway,
jumped in the back seat of a passing police
patrol car, and stayed there until the car
reached a game preserve.

A school superintendent at Ashland. Mo.,
decided to close his school during the hunt
ing season. He explained he wanted to keep
the children from being shot by deer hunt
ers while the youngsters waited along the
roads to board school buses.
A Laramie, Wyo., rancher shot at a deer
75 yards, away and missed. Mounting his
horse, he uncoiled a lariat and roped the
five-point buck.
A Reidsville, N. C, man, who wanted to
take some quail to a sick friend in Danville,
Va., was unable to bag a single bird. Driv
ing up empty-handed to see his friend, his
car flushed a covey of quail from the side
of the highway, and three of the birds flew
right into the car.
A trapper in Independence, Ark., caught
a bobcat and a game warden in his traps.
A man reported that he not only bagged
his limit while shooting ducks near Aber
deen. N. D.. but found a $5 gold piece in
the gizzard of one mallard.
Near Lead. S. D., a Westport man stopped
a stranger and bragged that he had just
killed two deer. The stranger went along to
admire the kill then introduced himself as
the game warden, fined the hunter S100 and
costs, and took away his deer and his hunt
ing licenses.
Near Askov. Minn., a search party finally
found the hunter who had packed his gear
in the dark and gone off with his wife's
compact instead of his compass.
A Massachusetts man decided not to take
any chances with nearsighted hunters. He
placed a tarpaulin over a life-sized concrete
deer on his lawn.
