Low Echo Reunion Announced;

Camp Low Echo is located ap
proximately 50 miles from Med
. ford near the resort community,
Lake of the Woods. The 80 acres
comprising the site has a fine
.terfr&nt and is surrounded by
an evergreen forest. The camp
hs been developed the last 11
years to be one of the most out
standing in the Pacific North
west, Girl Scout officials say.
The camp is designed to ac
comodate about 150 girls plus
stff each session. There are five
units for girls of the Intermedi
ate Scout age level with each
ur.it housing 24 girls of the same
3ge. There is a sixth unit of 15
girls who are program aides and
counselors in training. A seventh
unit, to be known as the "pio
Hr unit" will be initiated for
th first time this year for girls
14 and 15 years of age or who

Registration Open
Registration for camp is now
open. All campers are urged to
register as soon as possible while
there is a choice of sessions to
attend. There will be one 7-day
session, July 7 to 14 inclusive:
then three 10-day sessions which
are July 15 to July 25; July 26
to August 5 and August 6 to
August 16. Registrations must be
paid at the Scout office or mailed
to the office, 500 East Main
street, Medford. At the time of
registration, health form cards
are given or mailed to the camp
ers if they do not come to regis
ter in person. This health card
must be filled out ten days prior

All campers are to leave from

garage located at Fourth and
Apple streets, Medford. This bus
service was inaugurated last
year and was found to be tre
mendously successful. Campers
are allowed to bring one suitcase
and a bedroll
Miss Irene Knox of College
Park, Md., is returning this year
as director for her third consec
utive year. Many of last year's
staff members are returning also.
In addition to the camp direc
tor, there will be a unit leader
and three assistant counselors for
each unit of 24 girls. There are
many different counselors hired
to do specialized jobs such as
registered nurse, dietitian, busi
ness manager, cooks, handy man,
waterfront director and her as
sistants for swimming, boating
and canoeing. There is also a
handicraft director, a hiking
counselor and a nature study
counselor.
"All of these work together
towards a common goal to help
the girls have a fine educational
and healthful exprience in the
out-of-doors," Scout officials
state.
The Girl Scout organization is
sponsored by the United Med
ford Crusade, Ashland and Tal
ent Youth Fund drive, the Jo
sephine County United Fund, and
fund drives in the West Siski
you district. The camping pro
gram is intended to be self sup
porting but non-profit. The fees
the campers pay are for the sup
plies and operation of the camp.
Show Announced
By Fish Society
Southwest Oregon Tropical
Fish society will hold the an
nual fish show May 13, 14 and
15 at Coos Bay, Ore. The meet
ing will be held in the Ameri
can Legion hall from 10 a.m. to
8 p.m. daily, and the public is
invited to attend.
W. A. Freeland, fish hobbyist
from Medford, will be one of the
judges for the show.

Delegates to the annual state
convention, to be held in June,
will be elected at a meeting of
the. auxiliary to Fraternal Or
der of Eagles to be held tonight
at 8 o'clock at Eagles' hall.

Senate Confirms
McLeod Appointment
Washington (U.R) The
Senate today confirmed, 60 to
20, the controversial nomination
of Scott McLeod as ambassador
to Ireland.
All of the 20 voting against
confirmation were Democrats.
Forty-two Republicans and 18
Democrats voted for confirmation.
