budget of 566,650,574 for the
State Public Welfare commis
sion. Of this amount, the state
would furnish '$33,181,417 and
the federal governnrnent 'the
balance.
Also voted out favorably was
an appropriation of $4,550,000
for adjustment upward of salar
ies of state employees, to be des
ignated by the State Emergen
cy board when recommended by
the Board of Control.'
Proposals were adopted rec
ommending increases in the sal
aries of governor to $17,500; sec
retary of state, to S12.500; attor
ney general, to $12,500; superin
tendent of public instruction, to
$11,500, and state labor commis
sioner, to $11,500.
The committee recommended
that the salaries of Supreme
Court justices be boosted to $16,
000 and of Circuit Court judges
to $13,000.

Now I am going to read "Gypsy"
the autobiography of that ele
gant, erudite, daring danseuse,
Gypsy Rose Lee. That should be
good. By the way, what is your
