New Jaycee Officers
Installed at Banquet
Meeting This Week
Members of the Junior Cham
ber of Commerce should care-'
fully examine the Jaycee creed
to realize its application more
fully in their individual lives.
This advice was given Tues
day evening by the Rev. Haddon
Robinson, assistant pastor and
youth educational director - of
the First Baptist church, Fifth
st. and Central ave., Medford.
Mr. Robinson was guest speak
er at the annual Jaycee installa
tion banquet at the Rogue Val
ley Country club. .
Speaking on the purpose of
the Jaycee organization, he em
phasized necessity for each in
dividual to prepare himself for
community service and youth
direction. He explained.it is not
enough to change the environ
ment and forget the individual
needs that young people have.
Mailer of Ceremonies
Charles Jones was master of
eeremonies, and Mark McKenzie
was in charge of the installa
lion program. Kon James pre
sented the Jaycettes a gift on
behalf of the local club for their
support during the past year.
The gift was accepted by Mary
Carlon, president of the Jay
cettes. ' - -
Gary Shuler, vice president
of the Junior Chamber of Com
merce and general chairman for
the installation, program, was
honored with - the Key Man
award. The award was present
ed by Jones. The national award
is presented to individual mem
bers of Jaycee organizations
who have contributed the most
to the Jaycee program through'
out the year.
Shuler's activities have in
eluded coeditor of the Jaycee
paper, publicity chairman, visit
ation chairman, district 8 orien-
tation chairman, treasurer and
secretary.
Passes Gavel
Installation of 1957-98 offic
ers was highlighted by passing
of the gavel at the close of the
ceremony. Hal Gardner took of
fice as president, succeeding
Jones. Alan Holmes was instal
led first vice president; Shuler,
second vice president; Gerry
Pullen, secretary; and Greg Orr,
treasurer.
Appointed by Gardner as di
rectors were Robert Foster, Don
Yocom, Richard Korner and Al
Franzke. .
