judges. Made by Mrs. Harlan P. Bosworth Jr. (pictured with the arrangement), it wa entered for the Southern Oregon Philharmonic Society
guild. Mrs. Bosworth used wistaria, Roman ' hyacinths and lilac and two large tree . peonies in wine red from the garden of Mrs. Milo
Kubalek, president of the guild. The container is-cm antique of silver.

Interest in the annual tea given each- April as a benefit for the American Cancer society,
i heightened by competition. This year groups were asked to enter flower arrange
ments or exhibits of heirloom dolls, and the 'second place flower arrangement winner
is pictured above. Designed by Mrs. Myers D. Jones, for Chapter AA of the PEO sister
hood, it is composed of white tulips, snowdrops and mock orange blossoms with Japanese
iris spears for background. A piece of driftwood-was fused for the baseband the
container is silver. Mrs. Jones used a Kay Finch white, arid silver ceramic pigeon as
an accessory. '

chair, with .carpet seat is 90 years old.

Women members of the Cancer society were pleased that a few men attended the annual tea Wednesday at Hillcrest
orchards. Pictured here (left to right) are Laurence Butler, chairman of the public relations committee of the Jackson County
unit, Oregon Division of the American Cancer society; Robert Cunningham, treasurer of the county unit; John Dellenback,
new president of the county unit, and Dr. Earl Lawson, divisional representative for the southwest Oregon counties. In
recent months those interested in the work of Ihe Cancer society in Medford and Jackson county have been working
on a reorganization which it is believed will result in more efficient operations.
Mrs. Ray L. Casterline (ot left) and Mrs. Ralph .Thompsen, co-chairmen for
the tea Wednesday, here hold a large doll dressed in a christening robe
which is an heirloom in the Hanley family. The handsome robe was loaned
by Miss Claire Hanley and had to be taken from the Jacksonville museum
for the event. The tea is held at Hillcrest orchards each spring through the
courtesy of Mr. John S. Day, chairman of the Medford chapter, America
Cancer society and-a district commander.
