happened was that every so
often the child would be sent
home from school, vomiting; she
would tumble into bed, she
would turn her face to the wall,
and for the next 24 hours she
would be completexy apathetic.
Her eyes would be glazed, and
she would pay not the slightest
attention to anything. She would
not accept any food. Every so
often she would retch. At the
beginning of the attack the
child would say that she had
pain in her abdomen and some
in her head.
In the course of years I saw
enough of these children so that
learned they must not be
operated on. There is nothing
r o n g in the abdomen; the
whole trouble is up in the brain.

I learned that when I saw such
a child I must look around at
the mother or the aunts or the
grandmother, and then I would
usually see a trimly-built, nicely
dressed, wide-awake, keen little
woman, quick in her movements
and her speech. I would say,
"You should have migraine,"
and she would generally say,
"Yes, I have had sick headaches
for many years."
Since, for 40 years of con
sultant practice in an office, I
have not had a chance ever to
see sick children in a home, I
cannot say what the best treat
ment for these migrainous
youngsters is, but I would ex
pect it to be a hypodermic in
jection of ergotamine, which in
85 per cent of cases in adults
will stop an attack of migraine.
Since when neusea has come,
drugs given by mouth usually
have no effect, the drug had
better be given as an injection or
in a rectal suppository or as a
tablet that can be dissolved
under the tongue.

Roads Scheduled
County road crews will begin
light dust oiling of county and
public roads outside the limits
of incorporated cities the first
week in May, County Engineer
Paul Rynning said Tuesday.
Residents desiring public
roads in their neighborhoods to
be oiled should have their orders
and payments on deposit before
the end of April, he said.
Information on road oiling
can be obtained from the en
gineer's office in the courthouse
annex, or by telephoning 2-8311.
Orders and payments are also
being taken at the county en
gineer's office.
Oiling of roads in the county
is expected to be completed in
May if weather conditions are
favorable, Rynning said.
