Measures Become Law
Salem (U.R) Two bills chang
ing regulations covering Oregon
forest administration were sign
ed into law yesterday by Gov.
Robert D. Holmes.
House bill 158 relates to the
protection of forest land and
House bill 159 recognizes differ
ent principles of forest conserva
tion practices for eastern and
western Oregon areas.
The second law gives the Slate
Board of Forestry power to re
voke logging permits for refusal
to comply with conservation
regulations.

a study made by Nation's
Schools, a professional school ad
ministration journal.
The publication said the pro-
segregation organizations total
250,000 members
According to Dr. Glen Robin
son, of the George Peabody Col
lege for Teachers at "Nashville,
Tenn., the major pro-segregation
groups seem to have flourished
during periods in which many
white southerners feared that
the peace and welfare of their
communities were in danger.
"Assumptions that members
of the major pro-segregation or
ganizations are largely irrespon
sible persons -seem unsubstanti
ated, since their members range
from public officials and college
professors to rabblerousers and
crackpots," Robinson wrote in
the magazine.
