For Drainage Tile

Cooper presided at a meeting
of the Gold Hill city council
Monday Feb. 4.
The council approved a re
quest for installation of under
ground drainage tile along the
north side of Fifth ave.. begin
ning at Six st. and extending
to the present catch basin on
Fifth ave.
Chief of Police Floyd Taylor
reported on various work the
city had accomplished during
January. Permission was grant
ed Taylor to hire his son, Wil
lard Taylor, to replace Don
Clemence, who resigned.

Because growth of the city
since the last population esti
mate was made in 1955 has not
been great enough to warrant
the expense of taking a census
this year, the council directed
Recorder Ferd Jones, to inform
the state board of census con
cerning the matter.
O A contract was awarded the
Pennsylvania Salt company to
furnish fchlorine to the city for
the year starting April 1957.
Deloes Walker and Donald
Morrow, local businessmen,
were named to the budget com
mittee for the term ending July
1, 1959.
The council will further con
sider the problem of what action
to te, if any, in cases where
private wells are dug and own-
ers disconnect from the city wa
te system. The water commit
tee is made up of Truman
Price, Virgil Gribble, and Harry
Foley.
