Discontinues Here
Members of the Jackson coun
ty unit of Oregon Mobile Home
Owners, Inc., unanimously
agreed at a recent executive
meeting to discontinue the local
organization.
After necessary disburse
ments, the balance of the funds
will be divided equally and
donated to the March of Dimes
and the United Medford Cru
sade, officials said.
Present at the meeting, which
was held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. George Distell, Linden
Trailer court, were Mrs. M. C.
Sager, Valley Center Trailer
park, and Mr. and Mrs. H. A.
Leavitt, Jacksonville.
Jim Barry Elected to
West Side School Post
Jim Barry was elected presi
dent of the student body at the
West Side school recently. Jerry
Winetrout was elected vice pres
ident: Betsy Beck, secretary; and
Marsha Watson, treasurer.

Croucher, Betsy Beck, Bonnie
Cheney, and Pat While, yell

Broiler Association
Schedules Meeting
The -Oregon Broiler Growers
association will hold a state
wide meeting for broiler grow
ers and members of allied in
dustries Wednesday, Feb. 13,
from 1:30 to 4 p.m., in the
Dairy Co-op association build
ing at Salem.
Purpose of the meeting is to
study possibilities of forming an
Oregon Broiler commission to
promote Oregon grown birds,
according to Cornelius Bateson,
association president.
The meeting will be open to
all broiler growers, hatchery
operators, processors, feed deal
ers, feed manufacturers and
county agents, Bateson said.
OSC Poultry Specialist
To Speak at Meeting

poultry specialist at Oregon
State college, will discuss trends
in the poultry enterprise and
marketing problems with eggs
at a meeting in Jackson county
Feb. 19. ,

j agriculture agent, said the meet
ing will be open to the public.
GEISHA TAXES LOWERED

the Geisha girl's entertainment
fee was lowered from 30, per
cent to 15 per cent today. The
cabinet approved the reduction
after revenue officials explain
ed their object was to "stand
ardize" taxes.
Field Trip, Dinner
Slated by Foresters
The Siskiyou chapter of the
Society of American Foresters
will hold a field trip and dinner
meeting in Grants Pass Friday,
Feb. 8.
The field trip will start at
3:30 p.m. at the -Bate Lumber
company office, and will include
a trip through the sawmill and
peeler plant. The "children's"
hour will start at 7 p.m., and
dinner is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
at Zottolas. formerly the Grants
Pass Country club.
Program for the meeting is
being arranged by personnel
from the Roseburg Research
center. It will emphasize re
search problems as they relate
to southwest Oregon.
Basey Pleads Guilty
To LA Robbery Charge
Los Angeles Robert S. Ba
aey, 21, former Medford resi
dent, has pleaded guilty to sec
ond degree robbery charges
here for robbing a market in
the Los Angeles area after kid
napping its manager. '
Basey, Ang with an accom
plice, Eugene Sellers .Jr., are
charged with robbinf a Safeway
.-ein Inglewood, Calif., of
$2,282 last November. The two
will be sentenced March 7 in
Los Angeles.
Basey is wanted by Coos
county authorities on charges of
Jumping bail ihere. He was ar
rested last March by Medford
police on assault and battery
charges but was aequitted after
a mal. 0
Basey was arrested in Yreka,
Calif., by Ashland, Ore., police
last year flowing an automo
bile chase with speeds ranging
up to 100 mile per hour over the
Siskiyous. o
