John Austbo, 1003 West Main street, checks his skis after
returning from Sun Valley. Raised in Minnesota, this member
of Rogue Snowmen can scarcely remember when he did not
know how to ski.

Wintertime is vacation time for many
Rogue valley residents. Some travel to winter
resorts for snow sports, while others go south
in search of warmer weather and sunshine.
Others choose the winter months as a time to
travel, particularly to the , other side of the
equator where January and February are warm
months.
Ski enthusiasts of southern Oregon often go
to Sun Valley, Idaho, and a number of members
of the local ski club, Rogue Snowmen, were
at Sun Valley during the latter part of January.
Others plan to ski at the Idaho resort this month,
and some have traveled to Squaw valley in
California.

Like most vacationers. Miss Virginia Larson of 101 Crater lake
avenue, was tired when she arrived home from a ski vacation
at Sun Valley and was reluctant to unpack. Miss Larson, on the
staff of United States National bank here, learned to ski only
two years ago, and is a member of Rogue Snowmen. On the
return trip Miss Larson visited her parents in Portland.
