"So were the English sur
prised," cracked Kay with a
wiggle of her heavy, dark eye
brows. Bing Crosby calls Kay "the
closest thing to Ca8le Lombard
in personality," which is one
way to describe her fun-loving,
open manner. She's also been
called a cross between Bea Lillie
and Gertrude Lawrence.
She has big eyes, fluffy hair
streaked with blonde and stands
five feet. 10 inches. That's not
too tall for lanky Rex Harrison,
who takes a month's leave from
"My Fair Lady" next week to
visit Kay here.
"But I'm the same height as
Gene Kelly without heels so
I guess he'll have to stand on
a box," said Kay while an MGM
publicist who stood by in Kay's
dressing room cringed.
English movie fans will see
a new Kay in "Les Girls." She'll
expose her legs for the first
time in dancing costumes. She'll
also make her singing and danc
ing debut.
