nized by the Shruie imperial council as an
outstanding activity and was recommended
to other Shrine organizations throughout the
nation. At this one, a .check for $1,000 was
presented to the potentate for the hospital.
The money was raised by the Shrine circus.
About 225 attended the program at which
members are hosts to their sons or other boys.
Kenyon was speaker at the program and de
scribed the Shrine hospital.

Plan Purchase Of New Bus

Shady Cove-Trail Members
of the Shady Cove school board
met Thursday, Jan. 24, to dis
cuss, among other matters, the
possibility of purchasing a new
school bus. The school board is
working on the school budget
and is sponsoring an informa
tion campaign on the school bills
in the legislature now. One of
these is the reorganization meas
ure for proposed increase in the
basic school support fund.
At the next meeting of the
Shady Cove PTA, to be held the
second Tuesday in February, the
new film strips and projector,
which was given to the school
without charge will be , exhibited.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Postma
of Sanborn, Iowa, are visiting
their niece and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Learning of Shady Cove.
Mrs. Carl Jenkins and chil
dren, Lorraine and Carl, left
this week for San Diego, Calif.,
where they plan to live. Jenkins
will remain here for the present.
Hank Davis is vacationing in
Mexico with his father, Jimmy
Davis, of Shady Cove.
The snowfall these past few
davs, while not a heavy one, has
necessitated the cancelling of
some metings, among which was
the Thursday meeting of Our
Lady of Fatima club.
The wedding of Miss Muriel
Burgess to Vernon Carr Baldwin
will take place in Grants Pass
Sunday, Feb. 17 at the Seventh
Day Adventist church. Vernon
Baldwin, who is the son of Mrs.
Ralph Lane of Salinas, former
ly lived with his family in Shady
Cove, graduating from the Shady
Cove grammar school and later
from the Eagle Point High
school. Following his graduation
he attended Oregon State college
for a year before entering the
Navy.
Monday at Sacred Heart hospital
may return home next week.
The Rev. George Bolster of St.
Mark's Episcopal church in Med
ford conducted the service for
the members of St. Martin's par
ish at the Shady Cove school
Sunday, Jan. 20. Following the
service a social hour was held,
with coffee being served. Serv
ices have been scheduled for
7:30 p.m. each Sunday for several
weeks in advance to be held at
the Shady Cove school. Elwood
Hedberg of Medford will con
duct the service this Sunday.

Word has been received of the
birth of a baby girl to Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Leekey of 4107 36th
street, San Diego, Calif. The
Leekeys formerly lived in Shady
Cove at Far Hills ranch and Bob
Leekey is the son of Bill Leekey
of Shady Cove. The baby, who
was born Jan. 7 weighed seven
pounds, six ounces at birth and

Mugs Collect Funds
For March of Dimes

campus service-social organiza
tion at Southern Oregon college,
have begun an all-out drive for
contributions for the Ashland
March of Dimes campaign.
The group started activities
Tuesday when they conducted a
downtown window wash in Ash
land. Group officials said more
than $80 was raised from busi
nessmen as the downtown area
was canvassed and many busi
ness windows washed.
All contributions for the Mugs'
services will be donated to the
Ashland March of Dimes.
Tuesday night the group
played SOC faculty in a comedy
basketball game between halves
of the OTI-SOC game, at which
SI 1- was raised for the March of
Dimes.

us that she is convalescing at her
daughter's home in Longview
and that she and her husband

has been confined to Sacred
Heart hospital where he has
been undergoing tests prior to
surgery. He has returned home
for a few days but expects to re
enter the hospital in Tuesday to
