can a wife have with a man
who has no sense at all in busi
ness affairs?
We have been married for
three years and have a one-year-eld
baby. It seems to me that
unless I go to work and do some
thing about our future we'll
just wind up in the poorhouse.
My husband inherited some
money just before we were mar
ried. He decided to quit his
job and invest in a business
enterprise. He nearly got swind
led and I was forced to call on
my brother to ask him to
straighten things out before my
husband lost everything we
owned.
Then, without consulting me
or my brother, my husband sold
his share of the business and
Invested in a new one, which
is now floundering. Our mar
riage has been one long crisis.
Yet my husband gets angry
when I talk of going back to
work.
Nicholas T. I know I've
given Jane pretty rough time
of it, but I don't think I've al
ready become a hopeless failure.
This new business still has pos
sibilities. It's just that , every
time I have a setback, Jane
makes a big deal of it and re
minds me that I didn't consult
her or her brother before I
took this step.
The fact is that I didn't con
sult them because I didn't like
the way my brother-in-law
"straightened things out" for me
the last time. He has more busi
ness experience than I have,
but he antagonizes people and
made enemies for me when
this wasn't necessary.
Although my present business
enterprise hasn't been as suc
cessful as I had hoped, we are
getting a living out of it. Any
way I a mstill young and able
and I don't see why my wife
should have to go to work when
we have a baby at home. We're
still not in debt.

Tha Council: Jane's hytserical
behavior is driving her mar
riage and her husband into a
desperate state. From her ac
count it appears that she has
been the failure in this mar
riage thus far, not her husband.
Jane seems to lack all con
ception of what it means to be
a wife and a helpmate. When
she married Nicholas and they
planned to have a family, it was
understood that he would under
take the role of supporter. After
three years, in which Nicholas
has handled this role satisfac
torily enough to provide the
family with a living, Jane is
all set to shove him out of this
position and take it on herself.
Jane has yet to prove that she
can handle her own role proper
ly. Her husband has had trouble,
yet she shows no indication that
she has given him any encour
agement or help other than to

Eisenhower said Wednesday a
"vast majortiy" of the Republi
can Party's leaders believe in
his concept of ' modern Republi
canism." He said he himself intends "to
stand for it with my full might"
within the GOP.
Mr. Eisenhower was asked at
his news conference where the
idea of "modern Republicanism"
originated and who Is respon
sible for leading the party to
ward its principles.
He replied that the chairman
of the Republican National Com
mittee has the responsibility for
leading the party to "modern
Republicanism." He said he
doesn't know where the concept
originated.

The 63-year-old Maryland na
tive was visiting in the home of
his son, Geoffrey S. Warren, at
the time of his death. He and his
wife came to Dallas from their
Centreville, Md., home just be
fore Christmas. He retired last
February.

Washington (U.R) Informed
sources said today the Air Force
is trying to discourage Boeing
Airplane Co. from establishing a
new guided missile production
plant in the San Francisco Bay
Area.
Officially, all .the Air , Force
would say was: "A production
site for the Bomarc missile has
been under consideration by
Boeing Airplane Co. and the
Air Force for some time. No
decision has yet been made on
a production site."
Air Force records, however,
showed that a statement was
issued in November, 1955, to the
effect that the Air Force and
Boeing" have agreed that future
production of the Bomarc mis
sile will be accomplished in
exisiting facilities at Wichita,
Kan."
Reluctant To Build '
Boeing has ben reluctant to
build the Bomarc, a pilotless
interceptor, at Wichita since its
production of the B52 bomber
has been stepped up there, in
formed sources said.
The Air Force, on the other
hand, generally opposes further
concentration of weapons pro
duction in coastal areas.
Boeing has taken options on
acreage in the San Ramon Val
ley, near Parks Air Force Base,
for possible construction of a
missile plant. It also has taken
options on the Ford Motor Co.

members winning $25 scholar
ships to the annual 4-H summer
school at Oregon State college,
it has been announced.
Smith won the scholarship

4-H member. Scholarships were
awarded in a 4-H club state live

site is chosen."
The Navy, meantime, denied
reports published in San Fran
cisco that it would relocate its
Oak Knoll Hospital and reduce
the size of its Mare Island Hos
pital in a "dispersal" from the
Bay Area. It has no plans calling
for changes in either facility,
the Navy said.
The San Francisco reports
also said the Army is consider
ing moving Letterman General
Hospital from the Presidio to
Fort Ord.
The Army said in response to
inquiries: "Even If a firm de
cision regarding location of Let
terman Hospital has been reach
ed within the Army staff, Army
could not divulge any informa
tion until formal papers had
been presented to Congress."
The office of Sen. Thomas H
Kuchel (R-Calif.) said it had
been told by the army surgeon
general's staff that the new fed
eral budget "makes no provision
for such a move."

'Mad Bomber' May
Be Ruled Insane

felt assured today that George
Metesky, the captured "mad
bomber of Manhattan," will be
adjudged insane and committed
to a mental hospital, for his
admitted planting of 34 home
made pipe bombs since 1940.
The consensus was that Me
tesky, the mild-mannered, ami
able man "who no one ever
knew," would be found incapa
ble of understanding the charges
filed against him for his crimes
which injured 15 persons and
spread alarm over this city.
Psychiatric tests of the 53-year-old
Waterbury, Conn.,
bachelor, begun Wednesday at
Bellevue hospital, are expected
to take about three weeks. If
Metesky is found insane under
the law, Bellevue doctors will
recommend that he be com
mitted to a mental hospital rath
er than tried on the charges.
Should the Bellevue finding
be challenged, however, the
case presumably would develop
into a battle of psychiatrists,
with a New York Supreme
Court judge deciding the issue.
In the event of a trial, defense
lawyers probably would enter
a plea of innocent by reason of
insanity.
Genes which carry hereditary

Costa Rican Motorship

Costa Rican motorship sank
Wednesday seven miles north
of San Juan, it was reported
today. Authorities said the 100
ton Edmore went down after
a broken propeller shaft caused
the vessel to ship water. The
U.S. Coast Guard saved the four
men aboard.
