Injured Minnie Demarris
Coliver, 76, was slightly injured
Saturday when she was struck
by a car operated by Harold
Johnson, 1565 Benson St., Med
ford, at South Holly and Main
sts., according to city police. The
woman was released to the care
of her' physician, officers report
ed. No citations were issued.
In Fraternity Jerry Raymond
Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harry G. Peterson, 508 Garfield
St., Medford, has been chosen
for membership, in the Oregon
State college chapter of Sigma
Tau, national fraternity for en
gineering stDdents. Membership
is based on scholarship and lead
ership in engineering activities.
Peterson, a junior majoring in
chemical engineering, is a 1954
graduate of Medford High
school.
Wednesday. He was released on
$100 bail, it was reported.

eric Murcell Medcalf. who died
Dec. 11 in Garland, Tex., were
four relatives from Jackson
county. They included his moth
er, Mrs. Bertha Medcalf, 100

M. A. Williams, 209 Church St.,
Phoenix; and his brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. T.
B. Metcalf, 1031 Narregan St.

struction company, Medford, has
been issued a building permit
to erect a $12,000 residence at
308 Under St., Medford. The
Cal-Ore Machinery company, 944
South Central ave., Medford, has
been issued a building permit
for a 56,000 remodeling job on
their business building. F. J. Pat
terson has been issued building
permits for the construction of
$3,000 residences at 1208 Leland
St., and at 1216 Leland St., Med
ford. ...
Driver Cited George Clar
ence Cooke, 40, of 709 2 West
Jackson St., was cited for fol
lowing too close Saturday after
his car collided with another
operated by Morton Frank
Stearns, 33, San Francisco. The
collision occurred on Highway
99 at the south entrance of Bear
Creek orchard. According to
state police, Stearns' car was
stopped on the inside lane pre
paring for a left turn, when
Cooke approached from the rear
and was apparently unable to stop
in time to avoid hitting Stearns'
car. There were no injuries,
state police said.

Three Sentenced
In Police Court
Three Medford men were
found guilty and sentenced in
police court today after plead
ing innocent to charges of dis
orderly conduct and assault and
battery during a fight Saturday
night. Police said three youths placed
the men under a citizen's arrest
during the fight, in which they
charged the men with using
switchblade knives.
Sentenced were Larry Wil
liam Irvin. 25. of 1104 West
Fourth st., Daniel Alan Waldron,
21, of 304 South Ivy St., and
Richard Lee Farrell, 22, of 528
Franquette st., according to city
police.
Irvin, charged with disorder
ly conduct, was fined $50 and
given a 50-day suspended sen
tence. Waldron and Farrell,
charged with assault and battery,
were fi.ied $50 and also re
ceived 30-day terms in city jail.
Conducting the citizens arrest
were Delbert Ray McDonald, 19,
Larry Wayne McDonald, 18. and
George Eddie McDonald, 16, all
of route 2, box 203A, Central
Point. The three youths told of
ficers they were involved In a
fight with the men near the
Medford Bowling lanes, Edwards
st. and Riverside ave.
Larry McDonald suffered a
knife wound below his jaw, po
lice reported. Officers added the
men had the knives in their pos
session at the time of the arrest.

daughter, Laura Lee Carter; a
sister, Mrs. A. W. Strempel, Los
Gatos. Calif.; a brother. Joseph
K. Grantham. Veneta. Ore.; and
his mother. Mrs. Marietta Gran
tham. Medford.
The body will lie' in state at
the funeral home Wednesday
from 9 a.m. to noon.

He was born in Medford on
Nov. 1. 1956. and is survived by
his parents, one brother, Michael,

Jay Carrol, all of Medford.

Deis officiating. Internment was
at Memory Gardens Memorial
