Surprise Party ,.
Honors Couple
On Anniversary "
CntrI Point Mr. and Mrs.
Roy V. Colpitts. Route 1, Box
70. Central Point, were hon
ored at a party December 2
which observed their 25th wed
dfng anniversary.
The Colpitts were guests of
Mr. and Mrs. James E. Semora
for an anniversary dinner, and
tien returned home to find a
group of friends and relatives
had gathered for a surprise
party- in their honor. Later oth
ers arrived to greet the Colpitts
and a total of about 70 called
between 2 and 10 o'clock.
The honored guests were pre
sented a large anniversary cake,
and many other gifts.
Mr. and Mrs. Colpitts were
married in St. Francis, Kan . De
cember 2. 1931, and have lived
in Medford 14 years. They have
five daughters. Two who were
unable to attend the anniversary
party. Mrs. Max W. Sweet of
Stillwater. Okla., and Mrs. Wil
liam Nickle, Anaheim, Calif..
and their husbands, telephoned
during the day. The other daugh
ters are Mrs. Arlene Reames.
Gold Hill, and the Misses Donna
and Lillian Colpitts, at home.
Course Completed
By Secretaries
Sixteen medical secretaries,
.all employees of Medford doc
tors, were awarded "certificates
of completion" at a dinner Tues
day evening at Henry s Broiler.
'The secretaries had completed a
course in office practice for
medical secretaries offered by
Jackson County Medical society
in cooperation with Southern
Oregon college and the General
Extension division. Oregon State
System of Higher Education. The
instructor, for the course was
Dr, Alwin V. Miller, chairman
of the business education depart
ment at Southern Oregon col
lege. Completing the course were
Jackie Adams, Velma Adams,
Mildred Blachly, Bernice Calla
han, Dorothy Crovette, Kathleen
Davies, Carmaletia Graham,
Carole Graham, Cecile Hammill,

in the area to attend a Christ
mas meeting to be held in the
home of Mrs. Ed Chamberlain,
Brownsboro road, Thursday, De
cember 12, at 10 a.m.
Following the business meet
ing, seventh and eighth grade
members of the Eagle Point
grade school chorus will pre
sent a program of Christmas
carols.
Candle making will be dem
onstrated under the leadership
of Mrs. Don Anderson. Mrs.
Earle Jossy, Mrs. Harry Hascom
and Mrs. William Wattenburg.
Mrs. Shepherd of Shady Cove
will display decorative plaques
made of dried grasses.
Those attending the meeting
are reminded to take their table
service and a. wrapped gift for
an auction as well as canned
goods or clothing for Christmas
box to be given to a needy
family.
Child care will be provided
at the home of Mrs. Edna Cun
ningham, whose new address is
Route 1, Box 665B on the Bro
phy road. Mrs. Cunningham's
home is the first house on the
right fork of Brophy road.

12:30 p.m. for a covered dish

Portland Miss Melissa Jen
nings. Medford. was in the cast
of "For the Time Being," a
Christmas oratorio by W. H.
Auden, presented in last Sun
day's vesper service on the
campus of Lewis and Clark col
lege. Miss Jennings is a member
of Chapel Players, a group of
students which prepares religi
ous dramas for monthly vesper
services and special occasions.
A sophomore elementary educa
tion major, she is the daughter
of Dr. and Mrs. George S. Jen

award came at the final sessions
