j mony Saturday, November 3 at
; 8 o'clock in the evening at the
j First Presbyterian church in
I Jacksonville. The Rev. Norman
R. Tully officiated at the wed
ding attended by 45 relatives
and friends of the couple.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. V. L. Moon of Jacksonville
and Carl Frohs. Portland. The
bridegroom is the son of Mr.
ind Mrs. L. D. McCay, 3334
Forest avenue, Medford.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a dress
of nylon lace and carried a bou
quet of pink and white carna
tions encircling a white orchid.
Mrs. James Cabler attended
the bride. Candlelighter was
Miss Martha Wyatt, and Doug
Clark served as best man. Ron
ald McCay and Melvin Salt
marsh seated the guests.
White chrysanthemums and
pink satin ribbon decorated the
church. Mrs. Carl Frohs played
the traditional wedding music.
Following the ceremony a re
ception was held at the McCay's
home. Miss Karen Frohs, sister
of the bride, was in charge of
the guest book. Mrs. Shirley
Nolan cut and served the wed
ding cake while Mrs. William
Curry and Mrs. Floyd Wyatt
poured the punch.
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs. Moon chose a purple knit
suit with pale lavender orchid
corsage. Mrs. McCay wore a
brown suit with orchid corsage.
The bride attended Jackson
ville High school. The bride
groom attended Medford and
Jacksonville schools and is em
ployed as a carpenter with the
Rogue Valley Construction com
pany. Valley Scout Co
Officers; Area
Rogue Valley Area Council of
Girl Scouts met Wednesday to
elect new officers for the com
ing year and hear reports for
conference delegates. Officers
elected were Mrs. Sam Jen
nings, second vice president; Mrs.
Richard Gray, third vice presi-
! dent; Mrs. Frank Tamney, sec
retary; Mrs. L. G. Stidham, mem
bership nominating committee;
Mrs. Ted Kelt. Grants Pass,
Mrs. G. M. Cannon, and Mrs.
Walter Garner are members at
large. Committee members are
Mrs. Hugh Mouiton, Mrs. Scott
Davis, Mrs. Charles Barnes, and
Mrs. W. W. Stevenson.
The council voted to accept
the northern part of Siskiyou
county as part of the Rogue Val
ley area of Region 11. Commun
ities involved are Fort Jones,
Yreka. Hilt and Happy Camp,
with approximately 269 i Girl
Scouts and 106 adults. By com
ing under the jurisdiction of the
council, the Siskiyou area will
participate in basic leadership
training, camping at Low Echo,
registration of troops through the
council office Instead of direct
to National Headquarters, month
ly bulletins, and field director
visits.
The council voted to lease
Grayback camp for year round
camping. It is used by Illinois
Valley as a day camp and as a
training camp for adult leaders.
It will also be available for trip
camping and overnight troop
camps. It will be leased from
the U. S. Forest Service. Some
repair work and renovations
will be necessary on the site but
some materials have been don
ated for this work by Grants
Pass firms.
It was decided that Low Echo
camp will be divided next year
into three ten day and one seven
day session of camping.
Senior Scouts who attended
the Senior Roundup near De
troit during July reported on
the trip and showed slides. The
pictures were taken by Karen
Johnson of Medford. Taking
part in the panel were Mary
Friend and Karen Johnson of
Medford, and Sandra Ullian and
Judy Dreis of Grants Pass. They
reported that about 6000 senior
scouts from all the states and
several foreign countries attend
ed the roundup.
Other reports were given by
Senior Scouts and adults who
attended the regional confer
ence in Spokane. Adults who
attended were Mrs. Tom Lytle,
Mrs. Calvin Ross and Mrs. Har
old Ricks. Each spoke on an
aspect of the conference: lead
ers, fun in scouting, service in
scouting, the court of honor, and
the patrol system. They also
spoke on council structure and
the national structure in scout
ing. It was stated that leaders
are the most important in bring
ing the program to the girls.

Mrs. Roy F. Layton.
Other business of the council
was the introduction of commit-
tee members and new officers,

I Grants Pass, a mcmoer of the
public relations committee.
Miss Mary Aldrich, executive
director, introduced Mrs. Wil
liam Baker, of Grants Pass, who
is to serve as field director. Mrs.
Baker was field director here in
1954-55. She will work with the
four neighborhoods in Ashland
and the nine neighborhoods in
Grants Pass. She will also be
day camp coordinator for the
seven day camps in the area;
and will work with the public
relations committee, troop camp
committee, training committee,
program committee, and troop
organization committee.
After the business meeting
slides were shown of Camp Low
Echo. The invocation was given
by the Rev. John Bright. The
flag ceremony was presented by
the five Senior Scouts.
Dr. Holt Speaker
For Nurses' Unit
Dr. William W. P. Holt spoke
for a meeting of District 4, Ore
gon State Nurses' association,
Tuesday evening. Dr. Holt
talked about his 50 years of
medical practice in Jackson
county, relating anecdotes of
early days, when house calls
were made by way of horseback,
and there were no telephones
or electricity.
The meeting was held at the
penthouse of Rogue Valley Me
morial hospital. Plans for the
annual Christmas basket project
were announed by the chair
man, Mrs. Lois Beach. Mrs.
Edith Davis and Mrs. Mae Issi
reported plans for two financial
projects. Mrs. Sue Monteith,
president, discussed the need of
registered nurses for the Red
Cross program. Nurses are
needed to be trained as instruc
tors for classes in "Home Care
of the Sick'' and 'Mother and
Baby Care." and are also needed
j for the Red Cross blood bank

time to Red Cross activtiies are
asked to contact the local Red
Cross office.

Newlywed Pair
To Make Home in
Klamath Falls
Klamath Falls Mr. and Mrs.
J. Paul Matthews have returned
from their wedding trip to Las
Vegas, Nev. and Death Valley,
Calif, and are at home at 522
Lincoln street, Klamath Falls.
Before her wedding on No
vember 1 in St. Paul's Episcopal
church, Klamath Falls, the bride
was Mrs. Wilda (Billic) Fabrics,
Medford, Ore. The nuptial serv-
I ice was read by the Rev. Galen
Onstad, vicar of St. Paul's, in
the presence of a small group of
relatives and friends of the
couple. Mrs. Elmer Balsiger,
Klamath Falls, long time friend
of the bride, was her only at
tendant. Ellis Matthews, also of
Klamath Falls, served as his
brother's best man.
The bride wore a beige dress
with silk jersey bodice and full
skirt of delustered satin. Her
small hat and gloves were a
matching shade of beige and her
shoes and bag were of brown
alligator.
Following the quiet cere
mony. Mr. and Mrs. Balsiger
were hosts at a reception for the
newlyweds at their suburban
Klamath Falls home. Among the
guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Hulse, Mrs. Janice Long and
Frank Lovett, all of Medford.
