rect a heart ailment which left
him a "blue baby."

chanical heart, a mechanical
lung, a team of 10 doctors and
20 pints of unusual O-negative
type blood when he is operated
on in Seattle Nov. 28.
Dr. K. Alvin Merendino, pro
fessor of surgery at the Univer
sity of Washington, will lead the
medical team in substituting a
short section of plastic tubing
for a part of the heart which has
failed to match the boy's physi
cal growth.
