Naval Hospital on artificial legs made for her at the Navy
rehabilitation center. Susie is going home to her mother
at Long Beach, Calif., with a whole new world ahead of
her. Her father, a Navy lieutenant, is serving aboard the
cruiser USS Helena.

Higher Market Prices

and coppers, featured a higher
stock market today.
Net gains ranged to more
than two points. The leading in
dustrials slipped off from their
highs and the rails lost part of
early gains. But the war issues
maintained strength.
Aircrafts. with gigantic back
logs of orders, including billions
in civilian orders, were the most
active issues. They had gains
running to two points and sev
eral set new highs, including
United Aircraft. Boeing Air
plane, and Curtiss-Wright.

Carl Metsehan. 48, Medford.
who died Saturday, will be held
in Conger-Morris chapel at 2:30
p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Peter
Barker of the Episcopal church
of Grants Pass will officiate.
Committal will be in Hargadine
cemetery. Ashland.
Mr. Metsehan was born in
Reno, Kev Oct. 20. 1908; and
moved to Portland in 1920
where he married Lucile Ander
son. July 22, 1939, who survives.
In 1948 he moved to Seaside and
then to Medford in July 1954.
Survivors besides his wife in
clude his mother, Mrs. Kora M.
Metsehan, Portland.

Mrs. Boothby was born Aug.
14. 1907, in Talent, the daugh
ter of C. F. and Clara Boothby
Arant. She graduated from
Southern Oregon college in 1930.
and also attended the University
of Oregon. Since then she has
taught in the Jackson and Klam
ath county public schools, retir
ing in 1956 because of ill health
She'came to Medford from
Klamath Falls in March. She was
a member of the Eastern Star
in Klamath Falls, and was a
member of the Business and Pro
fessional Women's club there.
Friends who wish may, in lieu
of flowers, make a contribution
to a memorial fund to Howard
Arant for a hospital bed.
Survivors include her mother.
Clara Maude Arant of Prospect,
and two brothers, Howard
Boothby and Lary C. Boothby,
of Medford.

George T. Lynch, 84. former
Medford resident, died in
Quincy. Calif., Nov. 8.
He was born in Pilot Point.
Texas, in 1872, and was married
to Mary Jane Harding in 1889.
They moved to Medford in 1915.
About 25 years ago. he moved
to Texes, where he lived until
about two years ago. when he
moved to Quincy, where he
lived with a daughter, Mrs.
William Carlsen.
Funeral services were held in
Siskivou Memorial chapel Sat
urday, and interment was in
Siskiyou Memorial park.
Youffi Arrested for
Being Absent from Base
Lyle Vernon Doty, 13, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Francis Doty,
1125 Maple Drive, Medford, has
been arrested and lodged in cily
jail on charges of being absent
without leave from his military
base, according to Medford 'po
lice. He has been AWOL from
Amarillo Air Force base since
Oct. 19, police, said. Police ar
rested Doty when he turned him
self in to city police Monday,
they reported. He will be turned
over .to military authorities this
week, police said.
