to Israel, administration officials

Such action if taken would
be part' of American-British-French
moves to stop the Mid
dle Eastern fighting before it
erupts into full scale war.

Thrasher, 26, of Nampa, Idaho,
was fatally injured yesterday
when his car went out of control
and crashed near Basque, Mal
heiur county.
An ambulance was called but
he died en route to a Burns hos
pital. Authorities said his car
may have hit an icy spot in the
highway or he may have fallen
asleep at the wheel.

President Luis Somoza was ex
pected today to lift the state of
siege which has prevailed in Nic
aragua since Sept. 15.
Interior Minister Julio Quin
tana said Somoza decided on the
move in a cabinet meeting Mon
day and planned to publish the
decree today. The cities of Man
agua and Leon will be excluded.
The state of siege was imposed
after the assassination of Som
oza's father, the late President
Gen. Anastasio Somoza.

pean ports two days ahead of
schedule and sailed for an un
disclosed destination. The force

tietam, six destroyers, and two
submarines.
The Navy would not confirm
that the warships had been or
dered to reinforce the Sixth
Fleet in the Mediterranean. All
a Pentagon spokesman would
say is. that the task group's
movements are "classified."
But American officials hope
as of now to stop the Israeli
Egyptian fighting through diplo
matic means if possible.

noon and continued 'calling on
homes until 10 p.m. They were
back in the field at 7 a.m. today
to complete the restoration job.
