ceremony.
Miss Smith is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Vern Smith, Ash
land, and Mr. Phillips is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Phil
lips, Salem.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a baller
ina length gown of Chantilly
lace over brides' blue nylon net.
It was ' fashioned with long
sleeves, a fitted bodice and the
portrait neckline was trimmed
with sequins and pearls. Her
fingertip veil was held by a
crown of pearls, and she car
ried a bouquet of white carna
tions and stephanotis encircling
a white orchid.
Preceding the ceremony the
randies were lighted by Miss
Sherri Knighton of Mcdford,
cousin of the bride. Her dress
of geranium crystalline was
worn with a corsage of gold
and white pom pom chrysanthe
mums. Maid-of-honor was Miss Shar
lee McNerney. She wore a bal
lerina length dress of green cry
stalline and her shower bouquet
was of gold spider chrysanthe
mums. Bridesmaid for her cousin was
Miss Barbara Barlow. Her
bronze crystalline dress was bal
lerina length and she also car
ried a shower bouquet of gold
chrysanthemums.
Four-year - old Beverly and
Betty Gennette, twin cousins of
the bride, wore gold crystalline
dresses and carried white bas

Following the ceremony a re
ception was held in the Fireside
room of the church. The bride's
table was covered with a lace
cloth over gold with gold
candles and centered with a
tiered wedding cake.
Mrs. Richard Smith served
the wedding cake. Miss Barbara
Barlow presided at the punch
bowl and Mrs. Kent Petersen at
the coffee service. Miss Sharlee
McNerney was in charge of the
guest book.
For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Smith chose a lace and
taffeta dress of Dior blue with
rose accessories, and a pink rose
bud corsage. Mrs. Phillips wore
a Navy blue dress with winter
white accessories and a red rose
bud corsage.
For traveling the bride wore a
light weight wool suit of blended
blues with beige accessories and
an Xrchid corsage.
After a wedding trip through
the San Juan Islands and Vic
toria. B. C. the newlvwcd couDle
will be at home in Salem.
The bride was graduated from
Ashland High school and at
tended Southern Oregon college
one year. Mr. Phillips attended
Salem schools and two years at
Southern Oregon college.
Among the out of town guests
were Mr. and Mrs. Otis Phillips
and Brenda. Mrs. Stanley Friete,
Mr. and Mrs. William Lowery.

for congressman, were honored
at a tea given Friday afternoon
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed
ward C. Kelly on West Fourth
street.
Arrangements of autumn
leaves and bronze chrysanthe
mums flanked by amber candle
sticks holding green tapers, cen
tered the tea table. Other dec
orative arrangements were also
of chrysanthemums and autumn
leaves, and were all the work
of Mrs. Moore Hamilton.
Pouring during the afternoon
were Mrs. La Verne Dungey, of
Medford, sister of Chester Holi-
field. Democratic congressman
from California, and Mrs. Ham
ilton.

two-piece ensemble of sage
green wool with a fur felt hat
of matching green, was pre
sented a corsage of bronze chry

luncheon given Tuesday noon
by Mrs. E. A. Littrell at the
Littrell's home on Greenway
circle. Mrs. Melvin Lattie as
sisted the hostess.
Mrs. Hitchcock accompanied
her husband, widely known Re
publican leader in Oregon, to
Medford. Mr. Hitchcock spoke
for a meeting of Jackson coun
ty Republican Women Wednes
day noon.
Guests at the luncheon were
for the most part Republican
party workers.

For Week End Stay
Guests last week end at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Pe-
senti, 1953 Kings Highway, were
Mr. Pesenti's brother and sister-
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pesenti
of Santa Rosa, Calif., and their
three small children. The occas
ion for the visit was a surprise
meeting with Mrs. Roy Pesenti's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. O. Brad
ley, who recently moved to this
city from Albany, Ore.
A family style dinner was held
in honor of the Bradleys on Sun
day. Mr. Bradley is the South
ern Oregon sales representative
for Randy's Meats, a California
concern. The visitors returned to
Santa Rosa on Monday.

Home From Trip
Mrs. W. H. Eaton has re
turned to her home on East
Ninth street after spending four
months in the east. Mrs. Eaton
made the trip by air.
While away she visited her
former home state of Kansas,
making stops in Wichita and
Ottawa. In the latter city she
attended the 45th reunion of
the class of 1911 of Ottawa Uni
versity, a Baptist institution.
She then continued to Albany,
New York, where she visited
a brother.
