Moore-Callahan Rites Held
At Medford Catholic Church
An event of last Saturday, September 29, was the wedding of
Miss Sharron Callahan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Cal
lahan, 607 South Holly street, to James Francis Moore Jr. The
bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. James F. Moore, formerly
lived in Medford and now make their home in Seattle.
The bride's gown was of blush
pink nylon tulle designed by Ca-
hill and fashioned with seal
loped neckline and very full
skirt with insets of imported
lace. Her veil was held by a
crown of shell pink sequins and
pearls and she carried a mother-
of-pearl prayer book edged with
gold, and a white orchid and
stephanotis. The pearl necklace
she wore is an heirloom in the
Callahan family, for "something
new" she carried a handkerchief
which was a gift from Mrs. Ma
rie LaComb and the traditional
"something blue" was a garter
loaned by Miss Peggy Brunkow,
Portland.
Miss Jeryl Lynn Callahan was
her sister's honor attendant and
bridesmaids were Miss Sandra
Montgomery. Medford, and Miss
Brunkow. They wore Cahill
frocks of rose taffeta with head
dresses of rose-colored feathers
and jeweled veils. Their bou
quets were pink carnations.
Flower girls and ring bearer
were Kathy and Keith Jensen,
twins.
The bride was escorted to the
altar by her father, and best
man for Mr. Moore was Stanley
Purcell, Medford. Ushers were
Charles Ashpole. Medford,' and
James Harms, Corvallis.
Soloists were Miss Frances
Thrun and Mrs. William G.
Reed, and Bruno Pellegrini was
organist.
Bouquets of gladiolus and
pom pom chrysanthemums deco
rated the church. Gladiolus and
pink baby roses were used for
the reception decorations, and
fresh pink roses encircled the
wedding cake. Mrs. Earl Lawson
and Mrs. Kenneth Brown cut
the wedding cake and pouring
were Mrs. Austin Laymance.
Mrs. A. A. Seekatz, Mrs. Robert
Montgomery and Miss Linda
Montgomery. Mrs. Ronald R.
DeVore took charge of the guest
book.
Music for the reception was
provided by Miss Thrun. 'Mrs.
Reed, and the Misses Colleen
and Rosemary Barr and Sue
Hall.
For the wedding and recep
tion the bride's mother wore a
gown of slate blue taffeta em
broidered in white with blue ac
cessories and a white rose cor
sage. The bridegroom's mother
wore a jade green gown with
gold accessories and her flowers
were yellow roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Moore were
hosts for the rehearsal dinner,
given at the club Friday night
for members of the families and
the wedding party.
When the newlyweds left on
their honeymoon the bride was
wearing a gray wool suit with
red accessories. They will be at
home at 2807 Orchard street,
Corvallis, upon their return. The
bride is a graduate of the Uni
versity of Portland and St. Vin
cent's College of Nursing and
the bridegroom is enrolled at
Oregon State college where he
is studying for a master's degree
in geology. He expects to com
plete his course in December.
The bride is a member of
Beta Beta Beta and Alpha Tau
Delta honor societies and is list
ed in the 1956 "Who's Who in
American Colleges." She receiv-i
ed the Thomas M. Joyce Memo
rial award at graduation. Mr.
Moore is a member of Phi Sigma
Kappa social fraternity.
Lively Rogues
Plan First Dance
Lively Rogues, dinner dance
group, will open the 1956 fall
season Thursday, October 18.
The Bob Anderson trio will play.
Dinner will begin ta 7:30 o'clock
with dancing from 9 to 11
o'clock.
Host couples for the first dance
will be Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ag-
ard and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mat
thews who will welcome all pres
ent and past members and
friends and guests.

bride is the daughter of Mrs.

Jesse Taylor, Prospect, and the
bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Chris
Jessen, 524 Mae street, Medford.
The Rev. Raymond Balcomb
performed the double-ring serv
ice, and the bride was given in
marriage by her father. She wore
a gown of white satin, ballerina
style, and carried a bouquet of
white carnations. Her veil was
held by a small white cap.

The Davidsons have lived in
the valley for ten years with Mr.
Davidson employed by the Elks
Lumber company. He is also the
past of the Re-organized Church
of Christ Latter Day Saints.

Three Conventions
Mr,. Rex Note, 32 Hamilton
street, left Friday night for the
mid-west and east to attend
three national and state sessions
of organizations to which .she
belongs. She is traveling by
plane.
Mrs. Note went first to Day
ton, O., to represent Rogue chap
ter, Federation of Grandmother
clubs. From Ohio she will con
tinue to Providence, R.I., to at
tend the grand session of the
Order of Eastern Star in that
state. Mrs. Note is grand repre
sentative to the state of Rhode
Island in Oregon for OES.
After the Eastern Star ser.-ion
Mrs. Note will return to Ohio
to attend the national conven
tion of Blue Star Mothers of
America. She is national con
ductress for this patriotic group.
En route home Mrs. Note will
stop in San Franci.sco October
19 to visit her daughter, Mrs.
Edward Davies, and will arrive
home October 21.

to the valley about a year ago
from New York City after hav
ing made their home on the east
coast for many years. Both at

University of Oregon before
their marriage and following
Mr. Maurice's retirement, they

Mrs. Taylor wore a Navy blue
dress with pink accessories and
a corsage of pink carnations. The
bridegroom's mother was attired
in a blue dress with white acces
sories and her bouquet was also
pink carnations.

mums and stock decorated the
church.
The reception was held in
the church parlor. Mrs. Glenn
Williams. Mrs. J. S. Goodwin and
Mrs. Russel Baxter, Aberdeen,
S.D., sister of the bridegroom,
cut the wedding cake. Pour
ing coffee was Mrs. Ed
Goodwin and Mrs. Aubrey Tay
lor poured punch. Mrs. Don Rus
sell, sister of the bridegroom.

southern California.

tended a large reception which
observed the 60th wedding an
niversary of Mr. Fasel's par
ents. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Fasel.
Turlock, Calif. On September 25
they were attendants for the
wedding of Mrs. Geri Thomas,
Mr. Fasel's daughter, to Eldon
Nelson, the rites taking place at
Virginia City, Nev. Both are
from Reno.
Later the Fasels stopped in
Woodland, Calif., to visit Mr.
and Mrs. J. J. Materie and
daughter, Nancy. Medford, who
are patients at Woodland clinic
as the result of an automobile
accident. Mr. Materie is man
ager of Montgomery Ward and
company here.

Traveler Returns
After Year Abroad
Mrs. I. E. Schuler has return
ed to Medford after spending the
past year in Europe. The Med
ford woman spent considerable
time in Rome and other Italian
cities, was in Monaco for a few
weeks, and just before return
ing home traveled in the Scan
dinavian countries.
Returning to Oregon she spent
the past month in Portland with
her son-in-law and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Walker Treece.
Mrs. Schuler wrote a nitmber
of travel articles which were
printed in The Mail Tribune dur
ing her absence from the city.
Portland Couple
Visits in Medford
Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Dick, Port
land, are in Medford to visit
their son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Guenther.

recently returned to Oregon after
a visit to Scotland where they
formerly lived. They spent their
time in Forfar and Angus.
The visitors will return to
their home in Portland October
