Time Confusing In
Many Sections Today
By UNITED PRESS
It's that time again, but-just
what time it is in many parts
of the nation is a little hazy.
Daylight time ended in several
western and mtfwestern states
Sunday but in some areas the
clocks will not be turned back
until the end of the'month.
In Indiana only scattered com
munities made the change, leav
ing a complex and confusing
crazy quilt pattern across the
state.
Communities in the Hoosier
state as far north as Williams
port and as far south as Evans
ville moved their clocks back.
Other areas, some in the same
counties, will change Oct. 28.
In Warren county, for example
Williamsport changed to central
time but nearby West Lebanon
and Pine Village did not.
In Jackson county, the town
of Seymour switched last week
end but neighboring Brownsville
and Crothersville remain on
daylight time until November.
Illinois was also split, with
the capital at Springfield and
most of the south and central
portions of the state making the
change. Chicago and other north
ern areas remain on daylight
time until Oct. 28.
'Among the western states that
made the change this week end
were California and Nevada.
Four Jackson County
Students at Linfield
Attending Linfield college,
McMinnville, this fall are four
students from Jackson county.
Enrolled for their freshmen
year are Melvin Harsh, route
2. Central Point; Sylvia Teeter,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K.
B. Teeter, 1202 East Main st.,
Medford; and Jim Crawford, son
of Mrs. J. H. Crawford,. 531
Berrydale ave., also Medford.
Also attending the college is
Kay Kelley, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Glenn Kelley, 315 North Fifth
St., Central Point, who is a
sophomore majoring In science.
