Miss Barbara Louise Baker be
came the bride of Kenneth John
Chokie in a ceremony held Sun
day, August 19, at Sacred Heart
Catholic church in Medford. The
Rev. Nicholas Deis officiated.
The bride is a daughter of
Mrs. Eva Baker. 517 South
Crape street, and the bride
groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Jay Hamilton, Route 2,
Box 393B, Medford.
Bouquets of white gladiolus
decorated the church for the
ceremony. Bruno Pellegrini
played the wedding music.
The bride, given in marriage
by her brother. Junior E. Baker,
wore a ballerina gown of white
lace and nylon tulle with a finger-tip
length veil of illusion
held by a tiara of seed pearls.
' She carried a bouquet of pink
roses and stephanotis centered
with sweet peas.
Miss Ruth Stegall, niece of the
bride, was maid-of-honor. She
wore a blue silk taffeta baller
ina frock with headdress of nyl
on and pearls and carried pink
asters. The other attendants,
dressed in pastel frocks like that
worn by the maid-of-honor, were
Miss Georgia Ann Baker and
Mrs. Junior E. Baker, sister and
sister-in-law of the bride. Their
bouquets were asters.
DeAnna Smelser. niece of the
bride, was flower girl. She wore
a white floor-length frock of
eyelet organdy with a coronet of
flowers.
Timothy Jay Hamilton, Ash
land, was best man for . his
brother and ushers were Lynn
Knight, Kenneth Nelson and
Clayton Taylor.
The wedding reception was
held at the home of the bride
groom's parents. For the wed
ding and reception the bride's
mother wore a silk print dress
with corsage of pink roses and
white carnations. The bride
groom's mother wore a navy
'blue two-piece suit with corsage
of pink roses and white carna
tions. Mr. Chokie and his bride are
spending a honeymoon on the
Oregon coast and will live in
Medford after their return. For
traveling the bride wore a suit
of Eleanor blue with white ac
cessories and corsage of sweet
peas.
The bride attended Medford
schools and the bridegroom at
tended school in Rock Spring,
Wyo. He is a salesman for Bar
neburg and Andrews.
Coffee Series
To End Tuesday
The final coffee in a series of
seven held this summer by
women of First Presbyterian
church is set for Tuesday, Au
gust 28. at the home of Mrs.
Berthold Barnum, South Pacific
highway. The events have been
gien to benefit the Ming Quong
rnission in California.
Tuesday's coffee is sponsored
by Grace circle and will be
from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. As
sisting Mrs. Barnum will be Mrs.
Frances Flinn and Mrs. Ken
neth Cook. It is stated that the
swimming pool will be available
for those who wish to swim.

Is Graduate Nurse
Miss Marlyn Paup, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Paup, 721
South Holly street, was gradu
ated from the Providence School
of Nursing August 19 in Port
land. Miss Paup was fourth in her
class of 41 students.
Following the ceremonies Miss
Paup visited in Medford. She
will remain in Portland until
September 27 when she will be
employed at Sacred Heart hos
pital here.
Relatives and friends who at
tended the graduation exercises
included Mrs. Agnes Ackerman,
Mrs. James Kneeland, and Mr.
and Mrs. Paup and children.

rode Jr., whose wedding was an
event of August 10, are now liv
ing in San Francisco. Mrs. Rick
rode is the former Claire Thom
as, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.
H. Thomas. 708 West Tenth
street, Medford.
The service took place in
Meeker Memorial chapel. First
Methodist church, with only
family members attending. Dr.
Raymond E. Balcomb read the
single-ring ceremony at five o'
clock in the afternoon, with Mr.
Thomas giving his daughter in
marriage.
The bride wore a dress of
champagne colored lace with
matching accessories and a cor
sage of cymbidium orchids. She
was attended by Miss Phyllis
Whitlock wearing a navy blue
dress with white accessories.
Her flowers were red gladiolus.
William Eatherton served as
best man for the bridegroom.
The bride, who attended Med
ford Senior High school and
Oregon State college, is with the
North American Securities com
pany in San Francisco. Mr. Rick
rode, graduate of the University
of Pennsylvania, is AAA repre
sentative in San Francisco.
Rose Society Sets
Meeting Monday
Medford Rose society will hold
a special meeting in the court
house auditorium Monday, Au
gust 22 at 8:30 p.m. Preliminary
plans will be discussed for the
American Rose society North
west district meeting to be held
in Medford next June.
Ernest Vehrs, Grants Pass,
American Rose society consult
ing rosarian for this area, will
show colored slides taken at var
ious rose shows in the North
west this season. He will also
speak on growing roses from
cuttings.

Joan Close became the bride of
Kenneth Charles Hudson in a
ceremony August 4 at 2 o'clock
at the Jacksonville Assembly of
God church. The Rev. W. D.
Turnbutl officiated at the double
ring service that was held before
50 guests. Mrs. Turnbull played
the wedding music.
Miss Close is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ruben V. Close,
1395 Thomas road. The bride
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert E. Hudson, Route
1, Crescent City, Calif.
The bride wore a gown of
tucked white taffeta. Her veil
fell from a white shell hat and
she carried miniature pink and
white roses on a white Bible.
Mr. Close gave his daughter in
marriage.

bride's attendant and wore a
pink suit with white accessories
and a gardenia corsage. Leonard

Indiana Couple
Arrives in City
To Visit Family
Mr. and Mrs. William J.
O'Malley of - West Lafayette,
Ind., are visiting Mrs. O'Malley's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ansley E.
Hutchinson, 912 South Holly.
Mr. O'Malley, a registered
pharmacist in Michigan and Indi
ana, received a research fellow
ship from the Pharmacraft Cor
poration of Chicago and is work
ing towards his doctor of philos
ophy degree in pharmacy at Pur
due university.
Mrs. O'Malley, a dietitian on
the staff at Purdue university,
is a graduate of Stephens college
and the University of New
Mexico. She completed her in
ternship at Mills college.
The O'Malleys, who motored
west by the way of the northern
states, spent some time in Glacier
National park in Montana before
arriving in Medford Thursday
evening. They plan to visit Yellowstone-
National park on their
return trip next month arriving
in Indiana by September 9.
This is the first trip west for
Mr. O'Malley, whose home is in
Michigan.
Gillespies Return
From Trip East;
Officer' Assigned
Mr. and Mrs. Everett Gillespie
have returned to their home at
1315 East Main street after a trip
east to visit their son. Comdr.
Donald R. Gillespie, rMs. Gilles
pie and the couple's three daugh
ters. Donna, Patsy and Karen.
Tte fficer' and his family lives
at Norfolk, Va.
Commander Gillespie has been
named United States Naval at
tache for Colombo, Ceylon and
will leave for his new assign
ment about October 1. His fam
ily will accompany him.

After a short wedding trip the
couple are residing at 235 North
Oakdale.
The bride is a 1956 graduate
of Medford Senior High, school.
Mr. Hudson is employed by the
Oregon Veneer company.
