held August 10 at 8 o'clock in
the evening at Community Bible
church.
The Rev. Paul Kroon officiat
ed at the service attended by
some 300 relatives and guests.
The church was decorated with
baskets of pink gladiolus.
Given In marriage by her
father, the bride wore a gown
fashioned with a lace bodice and
skirt of nylon tulle over satin
which formed a chapel length
train. She wore fingertip length
veil and carried a white orchid
on a white Bible.
A lister of the bride, Mrs.
Birch Scrivner, was matron of
honor. Her dress was of orchid
silk crystalline and she carried
a bouquet of deep lavender
gladiolus.

of the bride, and Miss Marlene

Jillinda Arthur, a cousin of the
bride. Her dress was similar to
Mrs. Scrivner's and she carried
a basket of pink and white dais
ies. Alfred Gleason was best man
for his brother. Bud Powell,
brother of the bride, and Ronald
Clason, ushered.
Bud Powell was soloist and
also sang the recessional. "A
Mighty Fortress is Our God."
Following the ceremony a re
ception was held in the fellow
ship hall at the church for 150
guests. Mrs. John Benson, sister
of the bridegroom, presided at
the punch bowl while Mrs. Alpha
Arthur and Mrs. Ray Arthur,
aunts of the bride, served the
cake.
For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Powell chose a brown and
gold print taffeta dress and wore
yellow gladiolus corsage. Mrs.
Gleason wore a navy blue dress
with gladiolus corsage.
The bride is a graduate of
Central Point High school and

Louise Edwards became the
bride of Ray Lee Driskell in a
ceremony held Saturday, Aug
ust 4, at 1 o'clock in Zion Lu
theran church. The Rev. G. H.
Hillerman officiated at the dou
ble ring service before 25 rela
tives and guests.
Miss Edwards is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. George Ed
wards, 400 Fourth street, Jack
sonville. Mr. Driskell is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Driskell of
Jacksonville.
For her wedding the bride
wore a white satin dress fash
ioned with nylon overskirt in
ballerina length. Her fingertip
veil fell from a halo crown and
she carried a pink rosebud nose
gay bouquet. She was given in
marriage by her father.
Matron of honor was Mrs.
Delbert Walker, sister of the
bride. Bridesmaids were Miss
Patricia Minnis, Miss Patricia
Rushton, and Miss Marie John
son, cousin of the bride. They
wore ballerina length frocks in
pastel colored cotton and car-
ried pink rosebuds.
Ronald Kear, a friend of the
bridegroom stationed with the
U.S. Army at Norfolk, Va
served as-best man. Ushers were
Richard Kear, Delbert Walker.

Elizabeth Collins to Kent Wiley Bonney, the rites taking place
at First Presbyterian church here. The bride is the daughter of

The bride's wedding gown of
white nylon net was fashioned
with a full floor-length skirt and
bodice designed with cap sleeves
and insets of lace around the
neckline. -Her waist-length veil
was trimmed with Brus&.T rose
point lace from her mother's
wedding dress,' and the locket
she wore was given by her ma
ternal grandfather to his bride
as a wedding gift. She carried
a bouquet of stephanotis.

ant. Her gown was of pastel pink
dotted nylon and she carried
rose - pink Burma gladiolus.
Bridesmaids were Miss Priscilla
West and Mrs. Charles R. Bon
ney, Lakeview, Ore., sister-in-law
of the bridegroom. Miss West
wore a pastel yellow frock and
carried Elizabeth the Queen or
chid gladiolus, and Mrs. Bonney,
who wore a pale green gown,
carried coral lace gladiolus.
Catherine Collins, niece of the
bride, was junior bridesmaid.
Her frock was of yellow nylon
and her flowers were Tyrone
orchid gladiolus. Sarah and Mary
Collins, also nieces of the bride.
were flower girls. They wore
long frocks of pink nylon net. ,
Mr. Collins gave his daughter
in marriage, and Charles R. Bon
ney, Lakeview, was best man for
his brother. Seating the guests
were Roger Hannum, Grants
Pass; Sidney Frank, Springfield,
Ore., and Peter Wick, Bend, Ore.
The reception, attended by 200
guests, was held in the garden
of the Collins' home. Arrange
ments of pale pink traveler
gladiolus decorated the refresh
ment tables and the rooms of the
home.

lis, Mrs. Rawles Moore, Mrs.
Louis Humphry's, formerly of
Medford and now of Santa Rosa,
Calif., Miss Jean Merker, Eu

wedding cake, using Mrs. W. J.

Mrs. Collins wore a soft taffeta
frock of cream color with green
and white accessories and cream
and brown orchids. The bride
groom's mother was attired in
a gown of figured green and
beige silk with accessories of
pink and corsage of green
orchids.
Mr. Bonney and his bride are
spending their honeymoon at Dia
mond lake and will live at 457
Washington street, Corvallis,
where the bridegroom is a stu
dent at Oregon State college. The
bride, a graduate of Medford
High school and the University
of Oregon, is a teacher in the
high school of Corvallis. She is
a member of the university chap
ter of Sigma Kappa.

day, August 28, at First Presby
terian church, Medford, has been
honored at a number of recent
parties. Miss Noel is a daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Noel, and
Mr. Mekvold's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Alf B. Mekvold. Both
families live in Central Point.
Members of Bethel 38, Inter
national Order of Job's Daugh
ters, honored Miss Noel at a
shower Tuesday evening. She is
retiring queen of the bethel.
The party was held at the
home of Mrs. A. M. Setness. 733
Pine street. Central Point. Mem
bers of the bethel and guardian
council presented Miss Noel an
automatic toaster.

To Live in Albany
Miss Eula Wintersnote,
who
took leave of absence from her
work as Jackson county home
demonstration agent this past
year to undertake graduate
studies at Colorado Agricultural
and Mechanical college, paid a
brief visit to Medford last week.
Miss Wintermote's new assign
ment in the Oregon State Exten
sion service is at Albany, where
she will assist in the training
of young extension workers.
While in Medford the visitor
was the house guest of Mr.- Vir
ginia Wait, 220 Vancouver ave
nue. Among the events arranged
to give some of her Medford
friends an opportunity to visit
with Miss Wintermote was a
small dinner party at Mon Desir
on Wednesday evening. The hos
tess for this occasion was Miss
Laura York.
Traveler Home
From Trip Abroad
Mrs. C. G. Van Valzah re
turned home last week after hav
ing spent the past two months
traveling in the United States
and Europe. She went in the
company of a sister, Mrs. J. P.
King, Springfield, Ore., and the
trip was by air.
Leaving in mid-July, the two
women visited Scotland, Eng
land, France Switzerland, Italy
and Austria. Returning to this
country they visited relatives and '
friends in Delaware, Alabama, j
Texas, Colorado and San Fran-1
Cisco before returning to Oregon. '
During Mrs. Van Valzah's ab
sence, another sister, Mrs. D. C.
England of Springfield, was with
the Van Valzah family here, j
Mrs. Van Valzah made the trip ,
as a guest of Mrs. King.
Elizabeth Scott, and the hostesses
Mrs. Benston and Mrs. Gorden.
Miss Noel was also honored
at a shower given Thursday eve
ning by Miss Sally Elden, Route
1, with Miss Earlene South and
Miss Maria Abbott as co-hostesses.
Games were played and
a scrapbook made for the bride-to-be.
Decorations were in pink and
white, and a pink umbrella cov
ered with pink rosebuds centered
the refreshment table. A nosegay
was made from the ribbons on
the gifts which will be carried
by Miss Noel for the wedding
rehearsal. During the evening the
honored guest was also presented
a basket filled with spices for
her kitchen.
