Bids Are Called for
Sugar, Douglas Cones
Th bureau of land manage
ment is asking for bids for the
collection of 2,000 bushels of the
1956 crop of ponderosa pine
conei and up to 2,600 bushels of
Douglas fir cones from specified
areas in Jackson and Josephine
counties.
The cones must be collected
from thritfy, -well-formed trees
growing between the 2,000 and
5,000-foot elevation in specified
townships.
Cones must be fresh, mature,
free of weevil and contain a
specified number of sound seed
per cone. Cone collection must
take place after the tree seed
has matured, approximately
Sept. 15, and may extend until
the seed begins to shatter from
the cones.
Responsible Bidden
Responsible bidders may bid
on any portion of the total
sought by the BLM. Bid forms
and additional information may
be obtained from the office of
the district forester in the Med
ford city hall. Bids will be
opened in Portland at 1 p.m. on
Aug. 23, 1956.

seed crop failures for the past
