nal discharge or local irritation
or over - sensi
tiveness. Some
know that it is
due to the

most cases
these parasites

produce much irritation. Then
the woman is miserable until she
can get rid of the infestation. In
many cases this probably dies
out by itself. In some cases, the
woman gets relief easily by tak
ing each day a few vinegar
douches, adding perhaps a table
spoonful of vinegar to a bag of
warm water. In other cases the
woman gets rid of the irritation
by inserting in the vagina a sup
pository which contains some
medicine that kills the parasites.
The parasites would probably be
killed by cold water alone if it
could only reach all of them.
The trouble is that they hide
perhaps in the neck of the womb
or in some of the glands at the
entrance to the vagina, or in the
outlet tube of the urinary blad
der. In a few cases they get into
the urinary bladder and then
they must be gotten out of there
and the vagina at the same time.
It doesn't do any good to get
them out from one place without
at the same time getting them
out from the other because, oth
erwise, the woman can promptly
re-infect herself.

In some cases the husband and
the wife keep reinfecting each

means that there is no sense in
treating the wife unless the i
husband is also treated. In a few
cases the parasite lives for a
time in the husband's prostate
gland. I read that now a medi
cine has been found which when
taken by mouth will kill the
parasites. j
Some women suffer from a i
vaginal infection with a mold
which started growing wild after
one of the powerful new anti
biotics was given her for a cold
or an earache. The drug was so
powerful that it killed off the
beneficent and helpful bacteria
which live normally in the vagi
na in order to keep bad germs
out. When the good germs are
killed by an antibiotic, molds
take their place, and these can
produce a discharge with much
soreness and itching. What is un
fortunate is that often the
woman has to wait for months
until the normal germs can
grow back again. .

west District Kiwanis conven
tion yesterday.
Oregon, along with the rest
of the Northwest, is one of the
few states in the nation with
water resources adequate for a
rapidly growing population as
well as greatly increased indust
rial uses, Gov. Smith said.
"In Oregon," the governor
said to Kiwanians, "we have
recognized the tremendous im
portance of this resource and
are developing a-farsighted wa
ter policy which will make pos
sible the fullest and most con
structive use of our water re
sources." Melvin Dennis, a Puyallup,
Wash., druggist, was elected gov
ernor of Northwest District Ki
wanis clubs.
