Are bald-headed men much

Show From Hospital
Derby. Conn U.R) Ed Sulli
van, the victim of an automobile
crash, will watch his Sunday
night television shown from his
hospital room because of a lin
gering case of bronchitis.
The 53-year-old TV star and
newspaper columnist was to
leave Griffin hospital Saturday.
But physicians said he would
remain hospitalized until next
week to insure faster and com
plete recovery from a bronchial
condition which he had before
the accident.
Dr. Edward Harvey Jr. had
feared that chest injuries Sulli
van suffered at Seymour, Conn.,
Monday might develop into
pneumonia.
Traffic Certificates Awarded to Portland
Portland (U.R) Portland
rated three traffic achievement
certificates yesterday, but they
were presented with a reserved
"well done."
The National Safety Council
official who made the awards
said his reservation was based
not on criticism but on what
more might be done.
John C. Hall, district repre
sentative, presented the awards
to Mayor Fred L. Peterson at a
city council session. They were
for safety organization, safety
education and accident record
system.
Olympia (U.R) About 200
persons are expected to attend
the 31st annual Northwest Riv
ers and Harbors Congress here
today.
Hall said that if it had not
been for budget and manpower
deficiencies, Portland would
have rated among the top five
cities in the nation in 1955.
Norblad Appointed
To Subcommittee
Salem (U.R) Rep. Walter
Norblad (R.-Ore.) today received
notice of his appointment to a
sub-committee of the House Mer
chant Marine and Fisheries Com-1
mittee to improve smaii ooai
safety.
Notice came from Rep. Her
bert Bonner (D-N.C.) chairman of
the committee.
Norblad had suggested to the
Coast Guard and Merchant Ma
rine committee that studies of
small boat safety be made after
a series of tragic drownings near
Astoria during last year's lower
Columbia river fish derbies.
Norblad said the subcommit
tee will visit a number of West
Coast ports, starting with hear
ings at Astoria Aug. 30. Subse
quent hearings will be at Ta
coma and Seattle, Wash., and
California ports.
The full committee is current
ly taking testimony in Washing
ton, D.C.
