THE TALENT IRRIGATION
DISTRICT
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
1. That a special election wiU be
held in and for Talent Irrigation Dis
trict. Jackson County, Oregon, on
Wednesday, the 22nd -day of August,
1956, for the purpose of voting on
the question of whether or not the
Board of Directors of said District
shall be authorized to, in the name
of and for and on behalf of said
District, enter into a contract with
the United States of America, acting
by and through the Bureau of Recla
mation of Its Department of Interior
to provide for said District, from the
Talent Division Project of the Rogue
River Basin Propect of said Bureau
of Reclamation, water to provide sup
plemental irrigation to lands now
irrigated within the said Talent Irri
gation District and waters for the
irrigation of additional lands within
said District and adjacent thereto and
not now irrigated and to obligate the
said District to pay to the United
States of America, without interest,
for the use of such waters as afore
said, the sum of not to exceed $5,810.-
uuo.oo in annual installments and to
make such contract obligation the
general obligation of the District; to
provide for the assumption of control
of works of the District by the United
States if the District defaults and for
the other matters relating thereto
and with respect to matters in per
formance of the provisions of the
Federal Reclamation Laws and all
acts amendatory thereof or supple
mentary thereto, aU substantially in
accordance with the form of agree
ment approved by the Board of Di
rectors of Talent Irrigation District
and filed with the Secretary of the
said District at the office thereof at
Talent. Oregon: which said contract
and the respective terms and provi
sions thereof is hereby referred to
and by reference incorporated in and
made a part hereof to all intents and
purposes as if set forth herein in full.
Said contract form as so approved is
available to inspection at the office
of said District during aU business
days and hours by any interested
person.
2. That the Tnaximum amount of
money, exclusive of penalties and
interest, proposed to be payable to
the United States of America by the
Talent Irrigation District for said
supply of water for supplemental irri
gation and for the irrigation of addi
tional lands for construction purposes,
as hereinbefore mentioned, is $5,810.
000.00. 3. That for the purpose of said
special election. Talent Irrigation Dis
trict is designated as a single voting
precinct and the polling place therein
has been established and designated
by the Board of Directors as the office
of the District at Talent, Oregon,
within said District.
4. That " the said special election
shall be by ballot and the proposition
to be voted on at said election shall
be as follows:

Talent Irrigation District, Jackson
County, Oregon, be authorized to
negotiate and enter into a con

ity with the proposals specified
in the notice of this election,

of the State of Oregon, author

special election shall put the fore
going question to tne qualified elec
tors of the said District, entitled by
law to vote upon such question by

Governor of the State of Oregon, bv
virtue of the authority vested in me
under the provisions of ORs 477.156
do hereby proclaim the unregulated
use of the above described areas to be
unlawful and that said areas shall be
subject to entry only through permit
to be issued bv the forester or fire
warden. Pursuant to ORS 477.158 the
forester may during periods of fire
hazard conditions, refuse, postpone or
restrict issuance of such permits when
necessary to prevent danger to life
or property. The permit shall require
the entrant:
tl To refrain from smoking ex
cept in places designated as safe
in said permit.
(2) To build no open fires except
in places designated as safe in
said permit.
(3) To have as equipment when
using campfires. except when
traveling as a pedestrian or
camping at improved, designated
and Dos ted campgrounds, fools
specified by the forester as suit
able for extinguishing fires.
This Proclamation shall be effective
from and after the 31st day of July.
1956 and shall remain in full force
and effect until the 31st day of De
cember. I95fi.
