Dancers To Study
In Los Angeles
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Aldrich
of Miss Pat's Dance studio and
nine of their advanced students
left yesterday to spend two
weeks of study and sightseeing
in Los Angeles.
The students on the trip are
Marcia Issacs. Carol Jones, Ciena
Hobbs, Marina Wyatt, JoAnn
Johnson, Karen Stelle, Sandra
Pemberton, Karen Adele John
son and Cherie Aldrich.
The group will stay at the Ho
tel Statler and will attend a
seminar to be given by the Na
tional Association of Dance and
Affiliated Artists in the hotel.
The students will take lessons
from approximately 50 different
teachers from all over the world.
Tap, ballet, acrobatic, ballroom,
Spanish, baton, modern and Ha
waiian dancing will be taught.
Plant have been made for the
young people to visit Disneyland,
Farmers' Market, the Mexican
Village and Knotts Berry Farm.
They will attend the Greek. thea
ter and on July 4 will attend a
fireworks display at the Coli
seum. Also planned are tours of
movie and television studios.
The group stopped in Redding,
Calif., Monday where Mrs. Jean
Mottern was hostess for a break
fast. The studio will reopen July 11.

officers June 20 at Prospect
Community hall. Mrs. F. L.
Thompson, Sutherlin, vice chair
man of Oregon Lady Lions, was
installing officer for the auxili
ary and Dr. Lee Mellish, Med
ford, conducted the ceremony for
the Lions.
New officers of the auxiliary
are Mrs. Lowell Ash, Union
Creek, president; Mrs. Kenneth
Vannice, vice - president; Mrs.
John Cartman, secretary: Mrs.
George Kansky. Union Creek,
treasurer and Mrs. Sidney Lund,
trainer.

will be held in Prospect June 14
15. Miss Susie McKillop is spon
sored by the auxiliary as a can
didate for queen, and Miss Sue
Colley is the candidate sponsored
by Prospect Lions' club.

Flans for the event were made
at a meeting of the auxiliary
held June 20 at the home of Mrs.
Frank Fagaltie, Shady Cove.
It was reported that the Lions'
club pancake breakfast on Fath
er's day was a success and Lady
Lions were presented a $50
check for their cooperation.
This is to be added to the schol
arship fund which is now estab
lished. Members who attended the
state convention made their re
ports. Refreshments were served.

Three Musicians
To Give Program
Three Medford musicians,
Caroline Andrews Werner, so
prano, Richard D. Werner, vio
linist, and Bruno Pellegrini,
piano accompanist, will give a
special assembly roncert Wed
nesday, June 27, at Southern
Oregon college. The concert, set
for 2 p.m., is open to townspeop-
ple without charge.
Mr. Werner will open the pro
gram with three violin solos,
"Legende" by Wieniawski; "Ca-
vatina," by Raff and "Tambour
in" by Rameau-Kreisler. ,
For Part II of the program
Mrs. Werner will sing "Philiss
has such Charming Graces," by
Young, "Can This be Summer"
by Clara Edwards; "The Swal
low.s" Dell 'Acqua and "My
Hero" from Oscar Straus' "Choc
olate Soldier."
For his second group Mr.
Werner will play "Berceuse et
Priere" by Ovide Musin;
"Foeme" by Fibich; "Hills by

Martini-Kreisler and Gardner's
"From the Canebrake."
Part IV will be another group
of solos by Mrs. Werner. Includ

Delegates who attended the
recent state convention will give
their reports at a meeting of the
auxiliary to Jackson County
chapter. Disabled American
Veterans, set for tonight. It will
be held at 8 o'clock at the DAV
hall, 1515 North Riverside ave.

and meeting of Colonel Sargent
auxiliary at .Redman hall Sun
day. The officers and colors of
Rogue River auxiliary. Grants
Pass, were also guests at the
meeting and dinner.
Mrs. James Cech, auxiliary
president, presided over the
business meeting. Mrs. Sutton
was presented a corsage by past
department president, Mrs. Har
ry Barneburg. Mrs. Don Ander
son, department senior vice pres
ident, was also presented a cor
sage. Plans were made for auxiliary
members to attend the depart
ment convention and the grand
swamp convocation at Eugene
July 8 to 11. Mrs. Mabel Nichol
son and Miss Donna Unger were
elected delegates and Mrs. Jo
sephine Widner and Mrs. Ralph
Atwood alternates. Miss Unger
will al$o serve as a department
platform aide.
The annual picnic for the
members will be held in Lithia
park in Ashland August 5. The
Ashland members will be in
charge of arrangements. All
Spanish American War veterans
and their families are invited to
attend. Mrs. Katherine Sweet
land, President of Rogue River
auxiliary, announced that there
would be a practice in the VFW
hall in Grants Pass, Sunday,
July 1 at 10 a.m. Officers and
members from Medford are to
take salads and desserts for the
luncheon at noon.
