Tours Disneyland
During Vacation
Disneyland, Hollywood, and
San Francisco wert the high
points in a six-day trip to Cali
fornia by Girl Scout Troop 10.
The trip was taken as a reward
for individual members who
earned their Curved bar, high
est award in girl scouting.
The group, accompanied by
the troop leaders, Mrs. Harold
Gordon and Mrs. Gerald La
tham, left Medford June 11 for
Disneyland where they spent
two days. While there they stay
ed at the Disneyland hotel and
ate many of their meals in the
park.
From Disneyland the girls
toured Hollywood, attended the
Bob Crosby television show, and
visited Farmers Market. From
there they travelled by bus to
San Francisco where they spent
part of one day sightseeing be
fore returning to Medford.
Part of the expenses for the
trip were earned by the troop
through fruit sales, card parties,

Meeting Planned

Rogue Valley Herb society
will meet in an all day session,
Tuesday, June 26, at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. John D. Hoist, rt.
1, box 116, Lampman Park rd.,
Gold Hill.
The meeting will start at 10-30
a.m. with the morning session
being devoted to making herb
scrapbooks. Lunch will be serv
ed at noon with herb tea being
served by the hostess.
The regular meeting will be
gin at 1:30 p.m. with the-roll
call response being "something
clever about herbs." Several
talks by members discussing
herbs will be given.
Members are asked to bring
their own lunch with something
to be shared as well as the ma
terials for making the scrap-
books.

held May 5 at St. Michael's
Lutheran church in Berkeley,
Calif. The Rev. Otto Bremer? of

riage by her father, Fred Svinth
of Areata, Calif. She wore a
chapel length gown of imported
Chantilly lace over Skinner
satin designed with a scooped
neckline, basque bodice, and a
very full skirt. Her finger-tip
veil was held by a Juliet cap,
and she carried white orchids
and stephanotis on a white

The matron of honor, Mrs.
Herman Simpson, of Las Vegas,
Nev., wore a ballerina length
gown of pink nylon dotted
Swiss. She carried blue margue
rites and wore a matching flow
ered head band and face veil.
Bridesmaid and matron were
Miss Barbara Maloy, Eureka,
Calif., and Mrs. Arthur Osborne
of Hayworth, Calif. They were
attired in blue gowns and car
ried pink marguerites.
Miss Ruth Pierce and Miss
Donna Green of Richmond,
Calif., served as candlelighters.
Little Linda Simpson, daugh
ter of the matron-of-honor, was
the flower girl and Jimmy La
Munyon, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Weston LaMunyon of Salem,
Ore., was ring bearer.

The bridegroom was graduat
ed from the University of Colo
rado in Boulder, and later re
ceived his master's in physics
from UCLA. He served as a lieu
tenant junior grade in the Navy
during- the Korean war. In the
fall he will teach mathematics

For Play
A technical staff for the forth
coming Footlighters' production,
"Late Love," now in rehearsal,
was named at a meeting preced
ing Friday night's rehearsal, ac
cording to Mrs. Max Wimmer,
group president.
Robert D. Stedman, director of
the three-act comedy which will
be presented five nights begin
ning Tuesday, July 24, appointed
Carl McQuigg, stage manager for
the production, and Miss Mar
ianne Moore as rehearsal secre
tary.
Others appointed by Mrs.
Wimmer to carry out details of
the production are Clyde Whea
ton, who will handle sound and
lighting; Miss Kathy Davis, prop

will hold a potluck luncheon at

Wayne Smiths Honor Guests
At Anniversary Reception
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne D. Smith and family were honored at a
farewell party June 13 at First Christian church. The party also
observed the Smith s silver wedding anniversary.
The Smiths will leave about
July 1 for Portland and later
will make their home in Alaska.
About 50 members of the
church attended. Hostesses for
the event were Mrs. J. H. Hop
kins, Mrs. C. D. Hershiser and
Mrs. Wilbur Culp.
The Smiths have been active
in First Christian church, Mrs.
Smith having been a member of
the choir, superintendent of the
Sunday School Junior depart
ment and secretary of Women's
Fellowship. She is also a vocal
ist, and has sung at many
church functions.
The silver anniversary theme
was used for table appointments.
A silver and white cake, baked
and decorated by Mrs. Hershiser,
was served. Silver candles dec
orated the cake table and an ar
rangement of pink Picture roses,
syringia and pink and white
candles centered the punch
table. Roses from the Hershiser
and Culp gardens decorated the
rooms. Mrs. Hopkins took
charge of decorations.
Mrs. Hershiser cut the cake,
assisted by Mrs. Lee Bailey.
Mrs. Paul Andrews served
punch, and Mrs. A. H. Gregory
poured coffee.
Mrs. Gloria Smith, accomp
anied by Miss Katherine GoU,

Mrs. William Piper presented
the honored guests a gift from
their friends in the church.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith were mar
ried at Coquille, Ore., June 13,
1931. They came to Medford in
1947 and have lived until re
cently on Merriman road. They
have two children, Nick, who
graduated from the University
of Oregon with this year's class,
receiving a degree in business

of Beta Sigma Phi met recently
at the home of Mrs. Nick De
Witt, 320 North Keeneway, to
discuss plans for the organiza
tion's booth at the horse show
which Ladies' Mounted troop
will hold in July.
All chapters are taking part
and Mrs. Howard Blew of Beta
Upsilon is chairman.
Also discussed was the pos
sibility of a Beta Sigma Phi
night at the Shakespearean
Festival in August.
