Nixon Once Voted Same Facts low Facing Ex-Manager, Democrats To Show

that on Sept. 26, 1951, Nixon
then a senator and a subcom
mittee member voted with
other members to compel a law
yer to disclose the names of all
his clients who had dealings
with the government.
Bought Legal Practice
The attorney was Max Siskind
of New York, part-time worker
at the - Democratic National
Committee, who testified he had
purchased the legal practice of
Democratic National Chairman
Wiliam M. Boyle Jr., when
Boyle went on fulltime duty
with the national committee.
The subcommittee was in
vestigating the Reconstruction
Finance Corp. and a loan it
granted to Siskind's client, the
American LKhofold Corp.
The late Sen. Clyde R. Hoey
(D-N.C), then chairman, ordered
Siskind to name his other clients
and the scope of their govern
ment business. Siskind protested
that they had nothing to do with
the case, as Chotiner has pro
tested that his other clients had
nothing to do with the subcom
mittee's investigation of graft in
the purchase of military uniforms.
But Hoey ruled that the sub
committee had voted unanimous
ly that Siskind should disclose
the names of his clients, what
service he rendered them, and
the government agencies he con
tacted.
Nixon's Statements
The 1951 record shows that
Nixon told Siskind: "... as far
as the people are concerned
certainly the public generally is
entitled to know what attorneys
represent concerns who are op
erating before government ag
encies. And I cannot understand
why there would be any re
luctance at all on the part of
Mr. Siskind or any other attor

Water Projects
Measure Passed
Washington (U.R) The Sen
ate has passed a $872,186,000 ap
propriation bill that would fi
nance construction of water and
power projects throughout the
country during the year starting
JuW 1.
The bill now goes to a confer
ence committee for adjustment
of differences with the House.
The Senate added S81.000.000 to
House approved amounts.
The Senate approved the bill
Wednesday without change from
allocations voted last Friday by
the Senate Appropriations Com
mittee. The bill includes S642.436.000
for flood control and navigation
projects of the Army Engineers.
S188.830.000 for the Bureau of
Reclamation, S26.100.000 ior!
construction and operation of
the Bonneville power system in
the Pacific Northwest, and S5,
357.000 for the Tennessee Valley
Authority.
No Deal Brewing,
Bridges Claims
San Francisco (U.R) Har
ry Bridges, head of the Interna
tional Longshoremen's and
Warehousemen's Union, says re
ports that the ILWU and the
Teamsters Union, are negotiat
ing a "deal" are "malicious and
false."
A San Francisco newspaper,
quoting "informed sources," said
the ILWU is planning to turn
over 15,000 warehousemen in its
jurisdiction to the Teamsters. In
return the Teamsters would sup
posedly help bring about a mer
ger of longshoremen on East and
West coasts. The newspaper said

treaurer. and James Hoffa, Cen
tral States chief of the Team
sters were conducting the nego
tiations.
Bridges said: '
"No deals have been made and
no talks are in progress or con
templated ... the rumors are
malicious as well as false."
In the past, Bridges' union
and Dave Beck's Teamsters have
fought bittecly over jurisdiction
of waterfront workers.

urban Southport bank last Mon
day. They have charged Mrs.
Drake s husband, 32, former San
Quentin convict and desperado,
with the holdup.

through hours of police grilling

""She won't give us anything

dress," a policeman said.
She said only that her hus-

days ago in Marshall, 111., before
