FORM OREGON COMPANY
A special Navy Oregon com
pany will be organized of men
enlisting in the Navy and will
train together at San Diego,
Calif., Chief Ted Werder of the
Medford recruiting station has
announced.
The company will be sworn
in June 13 and flown to San
Diego to start recruit training,
he said. They will return home
together for a 14-day leave fol
lowing nine weeks training.

Raleigh E. Hughes, 52, died at
the family residence, route 2,
box 220, Medford Sunday.
He was born in Rogue River
March 10, 1904, and was a fore
man for the 401 orchard and
ranch for the past 28 years. He
wsa married at Central Point in
1923.
He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Blanche Hughes. Medford;
two daughters, Mrs. Walter Gil
lette and Mrs. Roy Reed, Cen
tral Point; two sons, James
Hughes, Oak Harbor, Wash.; and
Richard Hughes, Medford; one
sister, Mrs. Ina Myers, Med
ford; and one aunt, Mrs. Ruby
Hicks, Medford; and nine grand
children. Funeral services will be held
at Perl Funeral home at 10:30
a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Ray
mond E. Balcomb of the First
Methodist church will officiate.
Interment will be in the Medford
