Moores Return
From Vacation
Trip to Florida
Mr. and Mrs. Earl C. Moore,
26 Hawthorne avenue, arrived
home last week from a 10-day
vacation trip to Miami, Fla. En
route home they visited in San
Francisco with their son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H.
B. Van Winkle and children,
Betty, Sue and Richard Kent.
The Moores made the trip by
way of Portland and from there
went to Chicago before trans
ferring planes for Miami. They
were guests at the Key Biscayne
hotel at Miami.
The couple made a number of
sightseeing trips including a
cruise along Biscayne bay to Ft.
Lauderdale, and an inland water
way trip through the Everglades.
They visited the Dade County
Art museum on Vizcaya, former
winter home of the late James
Deering.
Other points of interest which
they visited are Parrot jungle,
Fairchild Tropical gardens, the
Seaquarium, Miami University
at Coral Gables. The Moores
also attended horse races at Gulf
stream Race park and the Hia
leah race course. They also at
tended Sunday services at the
Miami Unity center.

Plan Flower Show
Name Committees
Talent A flower show is
planned by Talent Garden club
members for May 24 from 1:30
to 8 p.m., with Mrs. E. G. Tay
lor as general chairman. A food
sale will be conducted with
Mrs. Loyal Bates in charge; Mrs.
Glenn Mosser will plan the
silver tea, and arrangements
will be handled by Mrs. Chet
Zediker and Mrs. Gilbert Hill.
Plans for the show were made
known during a meeting May
2 when officers also were elect
ed. Mrs. Charles O. Long was
reelected president; Mrs. John

Baldwin, was elected vice-president;
Mrs. Mosser, treasurer,
and Mrs. E. G. Taylor, secre
tary. The meeting was held at the
home of Mrs. Lloyd Runnell
and Mrs. Ormy Goddard was
assisting hostess. The grouD
made a tour of Hoppe's green
house during the afternoon.
Tuesday Opening Night
For Footlighter Comedy
"Good Housekeeping," a com
edy first produced on Broadway
in 1949 starring Helen Hayes,
will be presented this week by
the Footlighters, civic theater
group. Opening night is set for
Tuesday, May 8 and the play
will run for five nights, closing
Saturday, May 12. Curtain time
daily will be 8:30p.m. Ticketsare
now on sale at Puruckers Piano
house and Swems Book and Gift
shop. They also will be avail
able at the theater box office at
the fairgrounds before each per
formance. -
This is the first play to be
given in the Footlighters little
theater, at the fairgrounds since
the building was moved to make
way for the proposed civic audi
torium. Formerly on a top floor,
it now is a one-story building
and easily accessible to theater
patrons. Remodeling has been in
the process for several months
and though not entirely com
pleted is adequate for both the
players and the -audience. A
comfortable lobby has been in
cluded and. a lounge where re
freshments can be served be
tween acts has been installed. .
The theater will seat about
160 persons.
"Good Housekeeping," was
written by William McCleary
and centers around what hap
pens in a normal American fam
ily when mother, armed with a
big psychology book sets out to
get everybody happy. The an
swer is pandemonium.
Playing the part of the imagi
native and well-meaning mother i
and wife is Mrs. Frankie Burton,
veteran little-theater performer,
who in addition to appearing in
many past plays done by Foot
lighters is also known to tele
vision audiences as moderator
for Jackson County Public
Health association shows.
In the role of the dignified
husband and falher, and presi
dent of a university, is Frank
Buchter, knwn throughout the
valley for his many perform
ances in little theater work.
A conceited, arrogant political
boss, who can pick 'the leading
party's candidate for governor,
is Isaac McCarley, announcer for
radio station KMED. This is Mc
Carley's first appearance with
the Footlighters, but he has ap
peared with the Oregon Shake
spearean festival company in
past years.
Four other young people will
be seen in their first roles with
the local group. They are Shirley
Buckingham and Elizabeth Bets
chart, who play the daughters,
and Clyde Wheaton and Carl
McQuigg, their two lovers.
Ruth Kilbourn, with the Foot
lighters several years ago and
who has returned again to the
valley, will be seen in the role
of the dignified maid. ,
Directing the play is Rudy
Vest. Although a student at
Southern Oregon college.
Director Vest has had several
years of experience in drama
both as an amateur and as a pro
fessional. Stage manager is Nick Parker,
and Kathy Davies has charge of

Central Point At the last
meeting of Jobs Daughters,
Bethel 38, in Central Point, Mel
McGrew, associate guardian and
Miss Kay Askwith, . chaplain,
were escorted and presented
gifts from the bethel in honor
of their appointments at grand
session. Mr. McGrew is the
grand junior custodian and Miss
Askwith is grand bethel inner
guard for Oregon.

Cove introduced were Mrs. John
Dunlap, bethel guardian; Miss
Roberta Dunlap, queen; and
Miss Delora Dunlap, marshal.
