Australians Visit
Relatives in City
Mr. and Mrs. Percy Frye ar
rived last evening from Mel
bourne, Australia, for a brief
visit with Mr. Frye's brother and
sister-in-lr-w, Mr. and Mrs. Har
old Frye, 803 West Second
street. This is the first time in 25
years that the two brothers have
been together.
The visitors will leave Mon
day, morning by air for Chica
go, 111., and other American and
Canadian cities. Later they will
continue to England and will re
turn to Australia by way of the
Suez canal route.
Percy Frye is an executive of
the A. G. Healing firm, import
ers, and maufacturers, of Mel
bourne. His brother owns and op
erates a grocery business here
and has been a Medford council
man for 16 years.
Last week end another Mel
bourne couple, Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Brockhoff, visited in
Medford wtih the Harold Frye's
son-in-lav and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. H. F. Knight. The Harold
Fryes came to the United States
from Australia about 25 years
ago, and these two close-together
visits were the first from
their Australian friends and rel

ford streets Friday and Satur
day, May 11 and 12. The sale
headquarters will be at Barne
burg and Andrews Furniture
store, on Sixth street. Mrs. Wini
fred Vail is general chairman of
the sale.
Money from the carnation
sales will be used by the group
for veteran and welfare work.
Permission to 'solicit the sales
has been granted by Charles
Champlin, Medford city police

Visitors in Medford ' last week end were
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brockhoff, Melbourne,
Australia, who were guests of Mr. and Mrs. H.
F. Knight, 452 Fairmount street. The Knights
took their guests o Crater lake Sunday and
Monday noon motored with them to Eugene
from where the Brockhoffs continued north to
Vancouver, B.C. Pictured here as they prepar

and Mrs. Knight. The Australian couple are on
: the first part of a round-the-world trip which
will take them from New York to England en
the Queen Elizabeth and later to Europe, Ath
ens, Alexandria and Port Said. They expect to
be back in Australia by Christmas. Mr. Brock
hoff is chairman of the board of. Brockhoffs
Biscuits, Ltd., a large biscuit and cracker com
pany, and also operates a fat lamb farm. Mrs.
Knight and Mrs. Brockhoff, girlhood chums in
Melbourne,, .had not seen one another in 25

Falls, in a ceremony held Satur
day, April 28.
The double-ring service was
performed by the Rev. John Fui
ten at the Assembly of God
church.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father.
Attending the bride was Miss
Joyce Irwin as maid of honor,
and Miss Kay Brown and Miss
Mary Ann Wright, bridesmaids.
Miss Irwin wore a pale yel
low frock and carried a white
Bible topped with white carna
tions. Miss Brown's dress was
also of yellow and Miss Wright
wore pale green and they also
carried white Bibles with clus
ters of white carnations.
Donald L. Smith was best
man.
Donna Dillard, sister of the
groom, was flower girl.
The bride wore a gown of
white net over taffeta and car
ried a corsage of red roses and
lily-of-the-valley Her veil was
finger-tip length,
tulips..
Mrs. William Harris was solo
ist, and Mrs.'Fuiten accompan
ied her.
A reception was held at the
Butte Falls city hall. Mrs. R. L.
Irwin and Mrs. Chet Ellis
served.
The newlyweds motored to
Crescent City, Calif., for a short
honeymoon. They are now liv
ing in a trailer- home near the
home of the bride's parents.
The bridegroom is employed
by Medford corporation.
The church was decorated invited.

Morris Boughner, member of
the Estarl committee for grand
chapter of Oregon, Order of the
Eastern Star, will be honored at
a reception Thursday evening,
May 10 at a meeting of Reames
chapter, OES, at Medford Ma
sonic hall.

Palo Alto where she has been

ornia -at Santa Barbara and they
will live there. Miss Drummond
has accepted a teaching position

College of Education at Chicago,
111.; where she . specialized in
primary teaching. For ' a time
she taught the kindergarten for
the deaf children conducted here

Couple Married,
In Reno Church
Mr. and Mrs. H. Dean Harden
burger are living at 607 Sherman
avenue following their wedding
April 28 at the Church of Christ
in Reno, Nev. The bride is the
former Winifred M. Weixel, 416
Plum street, and the bridegroom
formerly lived at Corvallis.
The ceremony was read at
10:30 o'clock in the morning by
the Rev. O. G. Harris. Attending
the couple were Mr. and Mrs.
Allen Eaton, both of Reno.
The bride wore a white knit
suit with green accessories and
Mrs.' Eaton's dress was of pink
lace worn with white accessories.
A wedding breakfast was serv
ed at the Riverside hotel at
Reno.
The bride is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rickard of
Hope, N. D. She attended schools
at Hope and the New York Hair
Dressing academy at Fargo, N.
D. She now is manager and hair
stylist for Modern Beauty salon.
The bridegroom is self employ
ed. He is a son of H. D. Harden
burger of Philomath.
Junior-Senior
Banquet Planned
A banquet Saturday, May 12
for junior and senior students
at Medford Senior High school
will be the first such event of
this size ever held for students
from the school on the same eve
ning of the annual Junior-Senior
prom, Miss Pat Leak, general
chairman for the banquet, has
announced. The event will be
held in the Pioneer room of the
Jackson hotel, and is for those
students who will not be attend
ing the .prom.
"Dreams," will be theme for
the evening and decorations will
follow that motif.- About 200 stu
dents are expected to attend.
The' full banquet dinner will
be served beginning at 7:30 p.m.,
and will be nohost. Various
forms of entertainment are. be
ing planned and will include a
Christian academy ,award win
ning film, "Wine of. Morning,"
produced through Bob Jones uni
versity." A ventriloquist has been
engaged and the " Multnomah
Bible institute trumpet trio will
be on the program. . ;

Relatives Visit at
Samuelson Home"
- Several relatives of Mr.; and
Mrs. W. A. Samuelson, 301 Val
ley View drive, are visiting here
this week. Mr. Samuelson's fath
er, Allen Samuelson, and his
brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Eugene Samuelson,
with their two daughters, Lorie
and Carey, arrived Thursday
from Walnut Creek, Calif., and
plan to leave for their home
today. --
Sisters of Mrs. Samuelson who
have been visiting here . since
April 20 are Miss Opal McAtee of
Sherman Oaks, Calif., and Miss
Betty McAtee, a first lieutenant
in the Air Force medical corps.
She is a nurse and for the past
two years was on a tour of duty
at the Ladd Air Force base at
Fairbanks, Alaska. She is en
route to a new post near Frank
furt, Germany. The sisters have
been golfing at Rogue Valley
Country club during their vaca
tion here.
A family dinner at the Samuel
son home was held Saturday
evening.

Win Art Awards
Art work done by two Med
ford Senior High school students
was selected by juries of emi
nent artists and art educators to
compete in" the. 29th .national
high school art exhibition. The
exhibit opened ,May 5 at Carne
gie institute, Pittsburgh,; under
auspices of Scholastic Magazines
the awards section of the maga
zines has announced.
The students are ,Miss Betty
Jamieson and Ron Wisdom, and
both paintings are done in oils.!

at the Oregon Regional Scho-j
lastic Awards exhibition spon-1
sored by Lipman Wolfe and conv j
pany, Portland.
The exhibit, to extend through
May , 31, is the climax of the
Scholastic. M a g a z i n e s Art
Awards school - year .program
with the preliminary regional ex
hibitions held in 38 areas earlier
this. year.. Entered .were, those
entries previously awarded gold
achievement keys by the regional
juries. Submitted were about
175,00.0. entries from this country
and its territories and about 38,
000 .were accepted for placing in
the national show.

brock, and four clarinetists from
the Hedrick Junior high school
band. .
