Lions' Auxiliary
Officers Coming
State officers of the Oregon
Lions auxiliary will visit in this
area during the week. Thev will
be guests May 2 of auxiliaries
from Phoenix. Talent. Central
I Point, Medford Lions and Crater
j Lions, when a dinner will be
served at 7 p.m., at the Medford
hotel.
On May 3 at 7:30 p.m., they
will meet with auxiliaries from
Butte Falls. Shady Cove, Pros
pect and Eagle Point at the
Eagle Point Teen age club. A
DOtluck dinner will be served.
The officers are Mrs. Kenneth!
Rojers, Portland, state presi
dent; Mrs. F. L. Thompson,
Sutherlin, second vice-president;
Mrs. Verne Conwell, Portland,
fourth vice-president; and Mrs.
Dan Dwyer. Medford parliamen
tarian. Each year state officers meet
here to speak to the various
groups informing them of auxil
iary activities throughout the
state, and assist with problems
of the local groups.
Alice Peterson
Honored at Party
Jacksonville Alice Peterson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur
Peterson. Japksonville, was hon
ored on the occasion of her ninth
birthday at a party held at her
home Friday. Her birthday anni
versary was on Wednesday,
April 25.
About 20 children attended ;
and games were played during j
the afternoon. Birthday cake and ,
other refreshments were served.
State Supervisor
To Attend Session
Mrs. Mae E. Logan, Portland,
state supervisor of the Royal
Neighbors of 'America, will at
tend southern Oregon's 25th dis
trict convention of the lodge
which will be conducted May 3
at the Medford Pythian building.
The sessions will open at 9 a.m.
that day.
During the meeting Mrs. Lo
gan will conduct a school of in
struction. All RNA members are invited.
Lady Elks Ask
For New Recipes
Women who attend a dessert
luncheon of Lady Elks Tuesday,
May 1 are asked to take recipes
for desserts and salads. The
luncheon will be served at 1 p.m.
It is pointed out by officers that
at the group's last meeting it
was decided that future meetings
will be held a half-hour earlier.
In the past they hava met at 1:30
p.m. '
Hostesses for the Tuesday
luncheon and the afternoon will
be Mrs. Everett Gillespie, Mrs.
D. A. Hutchison and Mrs. Larry
Rose.
Study Club
Wednesday Study club will
meet May 2 at 2 p.m. in Girls

Mrs. N. T. Hodges will give a
program on American folk music
and Stephen Foster. Mrs. Hazel
Flurry will report on a current
news topic.
OSC Announces
Week End Events
Corvallis Mothers of Oregon
State collpge students will be
honored May 4 to 6 at Mothers
week end on campus. More than
1000 mothers are expected to
attend.
Week end events planned in
clude campus tours, a luncheon
for mothers and their sons and
daughters, firesides in the vari
ous student living organizations,
a fashion show, comic opera, in
terfraternity sing, play, dance
demonstration and flower show.
Special services are planned
Sunday in Corvallis churches
for mothers and students.
The OSC Mothers' club will
announce winners of its 1956-57
scholarships at the annual busi
ness meeting May 5. Seventeen
full-tuition study grants were
awarded last year to outstanding
and worthy students.
Mrs. Marshall Dunham, Lake
view, Oregon's "Mother of the
Year," has been invited as a spe
cial guest. All four of her chil
dren hav attended OSC.

City junior, is general student
chairman. Mrs. S. W. McHugh
of Corvallis is Mothers club
president.
Mercy circle of First Presby
terian church has planned a May
day breakfast for Tuesday, May
1, at the church. Breakfast will
be served from 7 to 11 a.m. and
the public is invited to attend.
The committee states that reser
vations are not necessary.

Honored at Luncheon
Four friends of Mrs. Nettie
Grover, 806 Adams lane, a shut
in for a number of years, called
on her Tuesday, April 24 and a
no host covered dish luncheon
was served. The group presented
Mrs. Grover a bouquet of tulips.
