they started operations in May,
1955.
Gold Hill Grade and Crater

en masse as a school project. In
teresed persons from all of Rogue
River valley attended and were
entertained by a personally con

workman explained his job, and
the huge precision machines that
they used.
The plant has turned out. six
completed 125-horsepower sweed
gang mills, which have been sold
to sawmill owners in the valley.
It was stated that while they
have been taking three to four
weeks to complete one mill, they
hope to be able to complete two
mills a month. At this time they
are hiring 18 men.
Steel for the mills is pur
chased from steel mills in the
east in flats and structural
shapes, such as the huge pulley
wheels that weigh nearly a ton
each. These come from Gary,
Ind. The sweed mills are com
pletely fabricated here with the
exception of bearings and the
cutting saws.
Another fact is that the Jed
deloh brothers have in their
small plant one of the largest
steel boring machines on.the Pa
cific coast of which they are
justly proud.
