Miss McDonald, who is a
graduate of Ashland High
school, is a .sophomore at Ore
gon State college. She is a
member of Delta Delta Delta
sorority.
Her fiance, a graduate of Med
ford Senior high school, is at
tending the University of Ore
gon. He also is a sophomore and
is affiliated with Alpha Tau
Omega fraternity.
The wedding date has not
been set.
Mrs. Paul Walker
Visits Relatives;
Daughter Leaves
Mrs. L. Paul Walker, 408
South Oakdale avenue, left Wed
nesday for Salem to visit her
mother, Mrs. N. E. Helmick, and
her sister, Mrs. Macey Arnold,
with whom Mrs. Helmick makes
her home. While there Mrs. Hel
mick's birthday anniversary will
be observed.
Miss Jean Walker, daughter of
Dr. and Mrs. Walker, returned
the first of the week to Santa
Rosa, Calif., after visiting here
for the week end. With her as
a houseguest at the Walker
home was Miss Walker's fiance.
Wayne Brady, also of Santa
Rosa. The couplers wedding will
be an event of next September.
Miss Walker is a staff member
of the offices at Kushions Shoe,
Inc., in the California city.

Attend Meeting

a workshop on world understand
ing for the northwest region of
the United States in Missoula,
Mont., April 4-6. Mrs. L. B.
Pierce, secretary of spiritual life
for the Eugene district Woman's
Society of Christian Service, of
the Methodist church and Mrs.
Charles Adamson, Eugene dist
rict secretary of the Wesleyan
Service guild, represented south
ern Oregon at the meeting.
An international team of
Christian women discussed soc
ial, 'political, and religious pro
blems and what the Christian wo
man can do about them in her
community, church, state and
nation.
Team members were Mrs. Ki
yo Tanaka, a leader in woman's
work of the United Church in
Japan, Miss Violetta Cavellero,
a Christian education director in
Uruguay, and Miss Eva Ship
stone, professor of psychology at
the Isabella Thorburn college in
Lucknow, India. Accompanying
the team as coordinator was Miss
Louise Robinson, a former mis
sionary to China. About 60 wo
men from the four states of
Washington, Oregon, Idaho and
Montana attended.
Mrs. Pierce and Mrs. Adamson
returned to Medford Saturday
night.
Dates will be announced later
for the subregional workshop
on world understanding which
is to be held in Medford in May.
Traveler Leaves
For Trip Abroad
Warren Nash, 124 South Grape
street, left Tuesday morning on
the first part of a summer tour
which will take him to Europe.
Mr. Nash went first to Los An
geles to visit his parents, and
from there will go to New York
from where he will sail on the
Queen Elizabeth.
Mr. Nash will visit in the
Scandinavian countries, Eng
land, France, Germany and
Italy. He plans to return about
the middle of August.
Much of the helium for indus
try and modern medicine is ob
tained from natural gas well
sources.

At Tea Thursday
Mrs. Orrin L. Brown was hos
tess for a tea Thursday after
noon which honored Miss Mar
garet Huson, fiancee of the
Erown's son, Kenneth L. Brown.
The two are to be married July
8 at First Presbyterian church
in Medford. Miss Huson is a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darell
Huson, 45 Lindley street.
The tea was given at the
Brown's home, 1203 Queen Anne
avenue. The tea table was cent
ered with an arrangement of
pink camellias and tapers, and
rooms of the Brown home were
decorated with branches of pink
blossoms for the event. Miss
Huson wore a pink frock with
matching corsage.
Pouring during the afternoon
were Miss Huson's grandmother,
Mrs. Ina Huson, Miss Elizabeth
Burr, Mrs. Merton Lyster, Mrs.
Jack Clark, Mrs. Fred Rehling,
Mrs. Don Wright and Mrs. Vic
tor Sether. Assisting the hostess
were Mrs. Ray Smith, Mrs. Wil
bur Arnold and Miss Laura Mae
Huson, sister of the bride-elect.
The honored guest and her
sister are both students at Wil
lamette university and were
home last week during spring
vacation.- Miss Huson's fiance is
a student at Southern Oregon
college.
Women Golfers
Announce Plans;
To Enter Meet
The second luncheon of the
golfing season for women golfers
of Rogue Valley Country club
was held Thursday, April 5 at
the club. Mrs. Ray Frisbie con
ducted a business meeting and
introduced new members.
Plans were announced for a
money-raising buffet dinner to
be held May 10 for both social
and golfing members.
The Medford women have
been invited to Ashland May 3
for an annual invitational meet
and all women golfers were in
vited - to participate. Also ar
rangements are getting under
way for. the WVSO tournament
to be held here on May 17.

Honors Couples
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Jines
and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Scott
were honored at a farewell din
ner, March 31. The dinner was
at the Lyman Smith home and
members of Epsilon Sigma Al
pha sorority and their husbands
attended. The Jines family re
cently moved to Grants Pass and
the Scotts are leaving this week.
Mrs. Jines and Mrs. Scott were
presented 'gifts from their sor
ority sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stammen
also attended. Mrs. Stammen is
now a member of Beta Beta
chapter, Eugene.
Students Spend
Vacation in City
Lewis Bright, sophomore at
Willamette university, will re
turn to the campus today after
spending spring vacation with
his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Philip
Bright, 1797 Minear road. Mac
Baker, Salem, accompanied the
student south and has been a
guest of the Brights.
Both young men are members
of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

On Anniversary

prise party Sunday, April 1,
which celebrated their 35th wed
ding anniversary. The event took
place at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. J. W. Rice, 707 South Holly
street, and hostesses for the af
fair were Mrs. Rice and the
couples' daughter, Mrs. Ross
Minneci.
The buffet table was centered
with two bell-shaped cakes
which had been decorated by
Mrs. E. Ronald Rice. Decorations
of daffodils and azaleas were in
keeping with the Easter season.
The honored couple was pre
sented a gift from those pres
ent, and cards were played dur
ing the afternoon. Those " pres
ent were Mr. and Mrs. Rice, Mr.
and Mrs. Orie Moore, Mr. and
Mrs. Hugh Williams, a son and
daughter-in-law of the honored
couple, Mr. and Mrs. Minneci,
their daughter and son-in-law
and the couple's three grandsons,
Steven, Bill and David Minneci.
Mr. and Mrs. Williams were
married in Medford April 3,
1921. Mr. Williams came to Med
ford in 1908 and Mrs. Williams
has resided here since 1920. They
make their home at 1003 Reddy
avenue.

Miss Mildred Strahan of the
Camp White telephone office
was honored by her associates
before her departure recently
for Springfield, Ore. Her wed
ding to Francis Widmer of Med
ford was set for Saturday, April
7 at St. Alice church in that
city.
Miss Strahan has been em
ployed at the telephone offices
for the past four years. Mr. Wid
mer planned to make their wed
ding trip to California and Ne
vada and are to return here in
about two weeks.

held Sunday, April 1, to honor
the couple on their 25th wed
ding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Lambo were
married on March 30, 1931, in
Visalia, Calif., and came directly
to Oregon. They first lived in
Chiloquin, then Klamath Falls
and moved to Medford in 1949.
Mr. Lambo is employed by Ko
gap Lumber company.
Jerry Lambo, their son, a jun
ior at Oregon State college, was
home for the occasion, and their
daughters, Nancy and Lana,
poured and took charge of the
guest book.
Among the friends assisting
with the open house were Mrs.
George Rehart, Mrs. Guy Pier
uccini, Mrs. Carl H. W. Oest
reich, who baked a tiered wed
ing cake, and Mrs. J. J. Ken
nedy, who made a tree to hold

Returns
Fred Strang returned to his
home on Pennsylvania avenue
last evening after spending a
week in Pomona, Calif., with his
son and daughter-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs William C. Strang. He
made the trip by air.
Mrs. Frances Lintott, Rose
burg, spent part of the week in
Medford as Mrs. Strang's guest,
arriving Tuesday and returning
north Friday. Mrs. Lintott also
visited with other friends while
here.
