Medford Senior High school students and faculty produced the
Victor Herbert operetta, "Babes in Toyland," Friday and Saturday
night, and two of the featured characters are shown here in their
costumes. Miss Janet Jamison (at left) played Contrary Mary, one of
Widow Piper's children, and Miss Donna Lue Pfnister was Jane, niece
of Barnaby the miser. Members of the high school choir sang the
leading roles.
Greg Milnes, who played the principal role of Barnaby in "Babes
in Toyland," is pictured here with Robert Stedman, high school drama
coach, as the latter powders Greg's hair to the proper shade of grey.
The role of Barnaby was that of "an unsmiling miser." The operetta,
first produced at senior high school for several years, was staged with
the combined efforts of students and teachers from several school
Jepartments.

Miss Joanne Martin is pictured here in her beautiful white dress
worn for her role as the Fairy pueen. Miss Martin not only was cast
as the queen but also helped with stage decorations, making dozens
of paper flowers for the arch and a stage tree. When she was dressed
and ready for the stage the night of dress rehearsal. Miss Martin took
a pot of glue and spent a half hour before curtain time adding flowers
to the arch.
Also working hard to make "Babes in Toyland" a success were
the members of the high school orchestra who provided an orchestral
accompaniment for the songs and dances of the operetta. Pictured
above during a dress rehearsal are two players in the percussion
section. Miss Leana Bell and Doug Randies, with their eyes intently on
Director Allan Lehl.

Two of the comic characters in the operetta given Friday and
Saturday night at Medford Senior High school were Dave Bosworth
(at left), who played Gonzorgo, and Jack Gregory, who was Koderigo.
They are pictured with Director Allan Lehl, who coached the two on

Important to the story of "Babes in Toyland" are the children of Widow Piper, who are characters from
Mother Goose land. Pictured above in their costumes for the operetta are (left to right) Miss (Catherine Gott, who
was Jill of Jack and Jill fame; Scott Philips, who played the role of Little Tommy Tucker; Miss Carol Denman, who
was Little Red Riding Hood, and Miss Shirley TisdeC who portrayed the character of Little Miss Muffet.

Wearing elaborate costumes and carrying fans, these four students were the Four French Dolls of "Babes in
Toyland." The "dolls" are (left to right) Miss Carolyn Fichtner, Miss Beverly Hogue, Miss Dana Ragsdale and Miss
Dot Brickley. In addition to the music, drama and homemaking departments, the elaborate production required the
help of Warren Wolf and his art students and Leland Mentzer and his woodworking classes.
