Colombia Missionary
Will Speak to Friends
The Rev. Stewart Sparrow,
for nine years a missionary in
Colombia, S.A., will speak
Wednesday at the Friends
church. Representing the Orien
tal Missionary society, the Rev.
Mr. Sparrow will tell of his
work as director of the Bible
institute in Garagoa, which was
under attack on various occa
sions during riots in Colombia.
He will show slides of mis
sion -work in Ecuador, where he
is to begin a term of missionary
service in May. He, with his wife
and family, will be sailing for
Guayaquil, Ecuador, the first of
that month.

The Rev. and Mrs. Evers are
graduates of the St. Paul Bible
Institute. They have five chil
dren. Earl and Lois are in Bible
college, Floyd in high school and
Paul in the eighth grade. An
other daughter, Grace, is four
years old.
The Rev. Mr. Collins will
preach his farewell service at the
church Easter Sunday. He has
; been minister there for the past
! two years.
The Rev. and Mrs. Collins will
go to Alberta, Canada, to attend
the graduation of their son, Don-
I aid from Prairie Bible Institute.
! They will spend next year in
j evangelical work, traveling
j through the middle west, Canada
! and on the Pacific coast.
Easter Breakfast
Set for Friends
Easter observance at the
Friends church will begin with
sunrise service at 5:53 a.m. at
the J. W. Smith home . on Old
Stage road for junior high and
high school young people. Fol
lowing the service, breakfast will
be served at the Smiths' and for
seventh and eighth graders at
the Raymond Brood home, Dark
Hollow rd.
Identical worship services will
be held at 9:45 and 11 a.m., with
a solo, "Calvary," by . Mrs.
Wayne Roberts and Easter mes
sage by the pastor, Clynton Cris
man. The youth choir will sing
in the first service and the adult
choir at 11 o'clock.
"Journey Into Faith," a sound
film of post-resurrection events,
will be shown in Sunday school
at 9:45 and 11 a.m. Primary and
beginner departments will have
guest speakers to present the
Easter story. Sunday school is
held at 9:45 a.m. for all ages ex
cept junior high through col
lege. These meet at 11 a.m., fol
lowing the 9:45 worship hour.
A sacred concert and dedica
tion service for the recently pur
chased organ will be held at 7:30
p.m. Sunday. Guest organist,
Mrs. Dorothy McQuat, will play,
and the church choir, directed
by Mrs. Clynton Crisman, will
sing Easter anthems.
The public is invited.
Battle Over Empty Tomb
First Christian Sermon
There will be two worship
services at the First Christian
church Easter Sunday, at 8:30
a.m. and 10:50 a.m. Sunday
School will be 9:45 a.m.
The sermon for both services
by Reverend W. C. Piper will
be, "The Battle Over the Empty
Tomb". The chancel choir will
present two Easter anthems at
each of the services.
In the evening the Easter
Cantata "Life Everlasting", by
W. H. Petrie, will be presented
by the choir under the direction
of Herbert S. Daniels. Solo parts
will be by Mrs. Wayne Smith,
Mrs. Ralph Matlack, Mrs. Vera
Selby, . Mrs. Gloria Smith and
Mr. Daniels. Mrs. Henry Huener
gardt will be organist and Miss
Katherin Gott pianist.

mate about May 1.
