Around Hollywood
By ALINE MOSBY
United Preis Correspondent
Hollywood U.R) Mary Pick
ford, America's Sweetheart, said
today she's so upset over Holly-
SSTI wood s failure
to build a film
Pi museum that
she's 1 e a v ing
her art and
movie treas
ures to three
other cities.
The petite act
ress in silent
films was a
Aline Mosbjr gentle -eyed
girl with long golden curls. But
in real life Miss Pickford is a de
termined woman and one of the
few Hollywoodites with commu
nity spirit.
Last year bonds were sold to
build a museum in the old War
ner Bros, studio where tourists
could see movie props and me
mentos and watch movies being
made. Money was raised to paint
Hollywood Boulevard's side
walks pink and install fancy
street lights. But the drive for
the museum fizzled.
Studio Heads Blamed
"I do not hesitate to
heads of the studios

she sat in the librarv

said as
of her
home. "They did not cooDerate
They were negligent and short
sighted. The museum would earn
good will. It also would earn
money for the motion picture re
lief fund. Millions of tourists
drive down Hollywood Boule
vard every year and' are de
pressed. There's nothing for
them to see."
Miss Pickford said unless Hol
lywood gets on the ball she will
change her will and leave her
fortune in art objects and all the
films she made for Biograph to
existing museums. Which three
cities will get her belongings
still is undecided.

Husband Owes Loyalty
To His Present Wif
When a man is divorced from
his wife and' remarried, he owes
his first loyalty to his second
wife.

his first wife's
constant call
in a on him for
Dr. Hurlock heip ,nd ad.
vice. She is living alone, has
job, and does not want alimony
from my husband: There were
no children so she wanted to
be independent. But, she is al
ways calling up my husband to
ask his advice about this or that
matter. Then she asks him to
come to her apartment to help
her with different business mat
ters, such as her income tax and
her investments. She has some
money left by her parents and
he used to help her with her in
vestments when they were mar
ried. I resent the way she calls
on my husband and the way he
goes to see her at her apart
ment. He says I am just jealous.
Am I?" B.N.
(A) You probably are jealous
of your husband's first wife and
the fact that he still is interest
ed enough in her to want to go
see her and help out when she
calls on him for help. It cer
tainly suggests that there is still
a pretty strong tie between
them.
If you want to avoid possible
trouble for yourself, I suggest
you ask your husband to cut off
his relationship with his first
wife. You do not say why they
were divorced or who was re
sponsible for the divorce, but,
as he is now married to you,
he owes you his first consider
ation. As a businesswoman, she can
go to a lawyer for professional
advice or to a bank. It look
as if she is using business as
an excuse to get your husband
to come to see her. She may be
trying to win him back in this
way and that is why, you should
try to break off the relationship
as soon as possible if you want
your marriage to last.

Mis Pickford showed me through
her Benedict Canyon mansion
and pointed out the riches she
prefers to leave to the movie
going public than to relatives.
She and her husband, Buddy
Rogers, have collected Rudolph
Valentino's swords, Miss Pick
ford's films and 'costumes,
sketches by the famed Rodin,
paintings by Remington, price
less Chinese jade art objects and
screens, antique furniture.
Miss Pickford, a gracious star
of the old school, feels her treas
ures belong to the fans who
made her famous.
"That's whv we never close
the gates to our home," she said1.
People come up and look in the
windows. We don't mind."

Grand Rapids, Mich. -OJ.R)
They had to give Recruit Elmer
Kooienga of Zeeland an extra
sheet of paper to list his brothers
and sisters when he joined the
National Guard here. The medi
cal history form has four spaces
for listing brothers and "sisters;
Kooienga has 20.
Memorial To Ardent
Fisherman Erected
Honor, Mich. (U.R) A large
rock memorial to Ralph R. Kim
ball, an "ardent fisherman,"
has been placed on the bank of
the Platte river near here by
Drs. Charles L. Patton and
Christopher Parnall.
The unusual memorial is lo
cated near a spot where the
three men went trout fishing to
gether for many years.
Grand Rapids. Mich. (U.R)-
