"My wife and I use that sys

O&C Marketing
Restrictions Studied
Portland (U.R) James P.
Doyle said today he had taken
under advisement a brief peti
tion from, Clatsop county for
an end to marketing restrictions
on O&C timber so that Clatsop
mills can get more logs.
Doyle, regional administrator
for the Bureau of Land Manage
ment, took written testimony
from Clatsop county witnesses,
including Judge Guy Boyington
of Clatsop county. Judge Boy
ington said the restrictions were
"un-American" and stifled free
competition.
The restrictions were set up
in 1947, dividing the state into
12 marketing areas. Mills may
purchase O&C timber cut in
their market areas only. Object
of the regulation was to protect
small mills from large compe
titors outside their areas.
equipped, possibly within two
or three days.
Dowson's wife and their son,
Tom, 11, will join him here in a
few days, he said. The Dowsons'
other son, Richard, is a student
at Stanford university.
