To Be Shown Sunday
"Heaven to Earth," a new re
ligious historical motion picture,
will be shown Sunday at 7:30
p.m., in the main auditorium of
the First Church of God, Haven
and Holly sts. The fJm was pro
duced to highlight an interna
tional diamond jubilee year in
the Church of God, according
to the Rev. Darold H. Jones,
local pastor. "
The 42-minute picture presents
a look at the work and spirit of
leading pioneers in the early
days of this religious group. It
covers the years from 1880 to
1907 when the body was taking
form under the leadership of
Daniel S. Warner and other pio
neers. ,
This religious group has de
veloped from a handful of pio
neers 75 years ago into a body
of-people counting 121,655 con
stituents in 2,141 congregations.
Church school enrollment has
reached 216,032.

workers' training course to be

Class sessions will last for two
hours and will be held each
night through Friday. Assem
blies of God throughout the
Rogue valley are joining in the
workers' training course and
other interested friends are in
vited. The course of study will be
based upon the new textbook by
the Rev. Stanley Horton, faculty
member of Central Bible insti
tute and writer of the Gospel
Publishing house, Springfield,
Mo., "Into All Truth." Funda
mental Bible doctrines are
stressed in the study. Upon the
completion of the study certifi
cates will be awarded.
The Rev. Pirtle was for a
number of years director of the
Oregon district Assemblies of
God Sunday school department
and Christ's ambassadors. He
also served as pastor of the As
sembly of God at Hayward,
Calif. At the present Mr. Pirtle
travels throughout the United
States in the interests of better

training programs.

Friday night, Jan. 20, will be
family night at the church. This
is a no hostess affair, but all
families of the church are in
vited. A potluck supper will be
served at 6:30 p.m. A Conger-
Morris film, a 30-minute trave
log, will be shown following the
supper.
The Young Peoples group will
meet at the home of Jim and
Doug James Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
The topic will be Christian serv
ice as a vocation. A film on the
topic will be shown.

Observance Set
At St. Mark's;
Couple to Visit
In concert with Episcopal
churches throughout the nation,
St. Mark's church will observe
Jan. 22 as Seminary Sunday.
Plans, programs, and problems
of the church's eight theological
seminaries in this country will
be brought to the attention of
every congregation of the church
and special offerings will be
taken towards the need for in
creased facilities to' house the
growing number of young men
anxious to enter , the Episcopal
ministry. Guest preacher for the
occasion at St. Mark's will be
Harlan P. Bosworth IV, a junior
classman at the Church Divinity
School of the Pacific in Berk
eley, Calif.
Mr. Bosworth, eldest son of
Mr. and Mrs. Harlan P. Bos
worth. Jr., of Medford, entered
the church's only west coast
seminary last year, following
service in the Air Force, and Was
especially assigned to St. Mark's
by the. Very Rev.. Sherman E.
Johnson, dean of the Church
Divinity School. Mr. Bosworth,
who will be accompanied by
his wife, will preach at the 11
a.m. service at St. Mark's, and
the couple will be guests at his
parent's home at 2425 East Main
st., over the week-end.

The Rev. LeRoy Harris, super
visor of home mission- work for
the Oregon Pacific district, is
scheduled to speak during the
Sunday service at 11 a.m. The
pastor, the Rev. Raymond W.
Hurn, is in Portland this week
as speaker at a youth week ob
servance being conducted in the
Moreland Avenue Church of the
Nazarene. He will return to Med
ford Monday.

national service society for
employed women. Mrs. Faber is

just returned from a national
meeting at Buck Hills falls, Pa.

Course Announced
At Eastwood Church
A leadership training course
will be started Monday evening,
Jan. 23, at Eastwood Baptist
church, North Keene way at
Ridegway drl, and will continue
the third Monday evening in the
month for the next five months.
Mrs. Stanley G. Parrish will
teach the course entitled, "Evan
gelism in the church' school,"
and designed to meet needs of
church school teachers or future
teachers. Others also are invited
to attend. The course is being
taught in connection with the
"Year of Baptist Achievement"
being emphasized in the Amer
ican Baptist convention during
the current year.
At the 11 a.m. Sunday service,
the Women's choir will sing on
the" theme, "Divine Expecta
tions." "Fences or Roads" will
be the theme at the 7:30 p.m.
service.

For Annual Banquet
Alumni of St. Mary's college,
Berkeley, Calif., residing in the
Mt. Shasta area will participate
in the annual celebration of
Universal St. Mary's Night set
for Wednesday, Feb. 1.
. Local alumni, under the direc-
tion of Rodney D. Baumbach Jr.,'
president of the Mt. Shasta chap
ter, St. Mary's Alumni Associa
tion, will convene at the Empire
room in Yreka for a reunion ban
quet starting at 3:30 p.m.
