Planners Approve
Change of Zone
Recommendations
The city planning commission
last night approved a recom
mendation to the city council to
re-zone blocks one through sev
en of the Laurelhurst addition.
The commission recommend
ed that lots 1-5 and 20-24 in
block one and part of a strip of
land along Stevens st. be zoned
III-B, commercial, and that the
remainder be zoned class I-B,
two family.
Date for a public hearing on
zoning of Christian Science
church property in block six of
the Siskiyou heights extension
was set for Feb. 13.
Plats Presented
Three subdivision plats were
presented to the commission for
consideration. Jasper O. Bliss
submitted a request for a pro
posed subdivision on Winchester
ave. and Stewart ave. It was re
ferred to committee for study.
Douglas Pickell presented plans
for a subdivision between Clov
er lane and Dakota st. Ray
Wilkes presented plans f oc a sub
division at Crater Lake Ave.

Grace De Moss Smith
Sued for Annulment
Miami, Fla. U.R) The
husband of nationally known
amateur golfer Grace De Moss
Smith asked for a marriage an
nulment today, charging that
his wife was more interested in
golf than in babies.
Kirby Smith, assistant Dade
County soliticitor and husband
of the Florida women's amateur
golf champion, filed a petition
for annulment of their 17-month
marriage.
"She married me with mental
reservations about not having
children," Smith said. "I would
never have married her if I had
known this."
Mrs. Smith, a prominent fig
ure in golfing circles, holds a
string of titles including the
Doherty championship and the
state crown for women.
The Smiths were married
Aug. 12, 1953, in Corvallis, Ore.,
Mrs. Smith's hometown, where
she is now living.
