GRACE KELLY
Silent on Reports
III of Monaco, prize matrimonial
catches of two continents, kept
silent ; today and let matchmak
ers say they were in love.
Everybody was talking about
tiie unexpected romance reports
but the Kellys. They passed up
chances to squelch . the reports
with evasive replies.
The 25-year-old Philadelphia
beauty, who already has grabbed
off some of the best roles and
highest honors Hollywood has to
offer, even caught her studio of
ficials by surprise by inviting
the Prince home to Philadelphia
for the Christmas holidays.
They both returned here, and
the rumor circulated that this
was The Romance of 1956. They
met in Monte Carlo last year
when she made a movie there.
Miss Kelly came to theg tele
phone in her Fifth Avenue apart
ment. The actress is known for
curtly disposing of silly ques
tions, so it seemed only a matter
of seconds until she would dis
pose of this one.
"Is it true you are going to
announce your engagement to
the Prince of Monaco?" a United
Press reporter asked her.
. "I can't say anything about
that at this time," Miss Kelly
answered slowly.
"You mean you don't deny
it?"
"I just can't say anything at
this time,' 'she repeated.
John Kelly, her father, would
say nothing about the reported
engagement when he. was
reached in Philadelphia."
