Eagle Point
Winner Over
Jacksonville
Eagle .Point Eagle Point
high cagers will try to make it
two straight over the Jackson
ville RedskinsQonight when the
clubs clash at Jacksonville.
The Eagles bounced the Red
skins 47 to 31 here last night.
In taking the decision Eagle
Point never trailed in the eve
ning. The home club went 6n top
to stay in the early moments
!d head( 8 to 4, 21 to 11 nd
33 to 21.
It was a contest between two
green clubs and the inex
perience showed. But there was
evidence that both should im
prove as the season progresses.
"Redskins Ballhawk
Te Redskins broke up the
Eagle passing attack with some
Ggood ballhawking particularly
in the early stages of the tussle
and would have made a closer
game of it had they had some
sharper shooting. But the Eagles,
(for their part, yielded few close
inPshots and gave Jacksonville
few good tries until the final
portion of the game when the
lead was to wide to overcome.
V-And the Eagle Pointers were
Oable to work the ball in for a
number of good opportunities
at fairly short range.
Gary Foran, whose favorite
firing spot was from the side at
about 10-foot range, was the
only scorer in double figures
with 12.
Eagle Point lead wis squeez
ed to 8 to 6 fthe opening of the
second quarter but the home
quint established control by
working to a couple of 12-point
margins before halftime. The
spread was 13 points three times
in the third quarter and the
widest gap was 20 points at 41
to(Jl in the final panel.

Rogue League favorite this sea

first victory of the pre-loop bas

host to Yreka, Calif.
The Pirates this week have
been working against man-toman
defense, particularly the
full court press. Glendale used
such defensive tactics to spill
Phoenix in its opener last week
and Coach Woodward and his
charges are after the offensive
means to stop future foes.
Guard Delmar Brood sprain

Prospect Prospect high's
Cougars bow in on their home
floor Saturday night when they
play the Canyonville basketball
aggregation.
Coach Wes Stauffer has con
tinued to stress conditioning and
fundamentals. Biggest varsity
problem has : been providing
scrimmage competition. The
Cougar varsity now includes just
seven members , and Stauffer
says the junior varsity is too in
experienced to provide adequate
rivalry. ' .
Canyonville is expected to
bring some tall boys to Prospect.
In an effort to give Prospect
more backboard strength Stauf
fer may start 6-1 Don Andreson
at forward with Jim Daniels
going to guard. Other starters
may be Lyle Pope, forward,
Don Vannice, center, and Dar
win Bean, guard. Dave Gardener
may be at a guard if Andreson
doesn't start. .
BRENNAN PICKED
Washington (U.R) The Wash

football coach of the year. Bren

as a starter. Other possible
starters are Ray Dahl and
Charles Wall, forwards; Bill
Madden, center, and Jim Korth,
guard.
Gary Simmonds and Dave
Seitzinger likely will see lots
of duty.

News and Notes
From Camp White
By BILL HURN
The VFW auxiliary dance
Monday drew a turnout to wel
come Merrill's orchestra in its
Camp White debut. The musical
group works well without ap
parent effort.
St. Mary's Acacemy carolers,
under Junior Red Cross spon
sorship, presented their Christ
mas program at Camp White
Wednesday to a full house. The
25 youngsters, under the direc
tion of Dick Clark went through
a varied sacred seasonal presen
tation containing some rather
intricate numbers. The direction
of the choir resulted in an equal
ly sincere effort by the choir.
The Christmas party build-up
for this season's affair has
reached the bulletin board stage
and the committee of Hans Sor
enson, Henry Huls and Tommy
Thompson has started work on
gift-providing.
The party will be between 2
and 5 p.m. at Vets hall. A pro-
